Wayward

Hecate is the niece of Hades, the goddess of witches, necromancy, and the crossroads, she is a triple-goddess, tied to the fates.
It is a common belief for the people of Echaea that at every crossroads, there must be a shrine to Hecate, and offerings of garlic and cypress twigs should be left at these shrines whenever they are encountered. Alternatively, those shrines with a cypress growing nearby should be tended to or prayed under to ask for protection.
Hecate’s minions are known as The Wayward. Almost all female, the Wayward are of all races, and often have long hair that tends to cover part of the face, this helps to disguise the fact that they have 3 faces. The Wayward are all undead, fey creatures, whose faces rotate to show different emotions. Their central face tends to be neutral, with one side face displaying happier emotions, and the other displaying grief and anger.
The Wayward can also be of all ages, and are formed from the souls of those who devoted their lives to Hecate, or who were pledged to her after their death. They function as the agents of Hecate, helping her venture into the mortal realm to aid her followers or to collect ingredients for potions and spells.
In Echaea, it is a common belief to help others and show hospitality to every guest, and this is especially so for Waywards. It is also considered extremely bad luck to gaze upon their other faces without permission, even if another face is seen, it is expected that it should not be mentioned or reacted to. Upon meeting someone who is thought to be a Wayward, treat them with utmost respect, and provide their every need, for they will bring blessings upon those who aid them.
Waywards often reward those who help them with potions or charms, or even with coin or small miracles. Waywards also carry small lamps that are always lit, and a common request they make is asking for more oil.
