Moorcrest
Moorcrest is a village to the south of the Insidious Wetlands. It is located just across the river from the Shadesmaar, a forest that is said to be haunted by something. There is not much of note in this town. It is a bit out of the way from all the main roads, and it is small enough that it doesn't even have a proper inn. The two most notable times in a year are the annual visit from the Drumshade Adventuring Society looking for new recruits and the two visits from the tax collector from Luxxon.
Nobody really knows why Moorcrest was established. Its crop yield is meagre at best, barely enough to sustain the town itself, and nobody goes hunting in the Shadesmaar. The most common theory is that travellers got tired of travelling one day and set up a settlement. It is located on an unpopular road that branches off from the main road between Twin Peaks and Luxxon. The road ends at Swin Hollow, the next town over.
The people of Moorcrest are very superstitious thanks to their proximity to Shadesmaar. Everyone abides by their rituals religiously, and nobody strays too far from town. People who aren't from the area can't fathom why people choose to stay there.
