Human

The Human Race, also known as The Mortals, are an ever increasing Kingdom. Although the Humans are one of the youngest Races to live on Earth, they have populated Elthir for centuries. Not much is known of their arrival to Elthir, or how they arrived. There are no records. All that is known of their beginnings is that they brought the Golden Age to an end. And for that, (among other things) Mortals are viewed with contempt and disdain by the other Beings in Elthir.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

When the Mortals arrived over 900 years ago, they set up a basic governmental system that evolved and developed over the centuries into a political Monarchy. The King, or Ruler Superior, holds ultimate authority. The Grey Sage, the King's counselor and advisor, holds second in command and in case of the King's premature death or lack of an heir, he obtains the thrown. Beneath him are the Bishops, or Priests, who offer sacrifices to the gods, as well as holding judicial power. Coming after with varying degrees of power are the Lords, Dukes, and Knights.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

At the beginning of their existence the Mortals of Elthir shared a common tongue, but the great dispersion of 213 in the Age of Night, led to the formation of new languages and dialects. The 3 main languages among the Human Race are:
  • Elthirian (believed to be the first spoken language and by far the most widely known among Mortals)
  • Balnavian (used chiefly among the peoples of the Southern countries, but is found in parts of the Western lands as well)
  • Sectevus (although recognized as one of the hardest and most confusing languages in Elthir, it is still commonly used by merchants and traders)
