Cheldrad (Keld-rad)
Overview
Cheldrad is the Captial of the Theudaeric Hegemony. While the Empire is large, few cities get to this size. The Governing Warband Chief (Always a Hobgoblin) rules from here. Much about this city is geared around the art of war. A brutal and terrifying place, Chelrad has never fallen. Within the walls there are no districts structured towards different civic divides. Those with power and influence live where they choose. All is orderly within the Hobgoblin city, however they reject the concept of walls within their own walls.Layout
The Marrow Spire
An ivory tower in the center of the city, the Marrow Spire is aptly named. Legend has it that during the conquest of the Goblins and Bugbears of Galui that the Hobgoblins mixed their ground bones into the clay bricks that comprise the spire. The current Hegemon, Rorzgren rules from the Spire's main hall. The Plaza of Glory
A sprawl at the center of the city, The Plaza of Glory is one of the two more central monuments, with the second being the Marrow Spire. It is comprised of red mud bricks and many fountains of great scale. Statues to the Gods - On the Northern side of the Plaza sit three statues. The one on the left is made of shimmering, pearlescent silver, a statue of the goddess Tiamat. Each head has the pearlescent glow that correlates to her head. On the right rises a statue of deep crimson metal, sanded matte. It depicts the frightening and beautiful image of Asmodeus. In the center sits a glossy black statue of a towering, muscled visage with small horns and their lower half is one of smoke. This is the statue to Bane. Grand Aqueduct - Running through the center of the plaza is the great aqueduct that runs to the city all the way from the western mountains. Marvelously constructed, this structure is made of a pale grey stone, with square patterned inlay of Green Obsidian covering it in an intricate design. The Aqueduct is supported by arched columns, coming over the walls and branching into several different streams before it reaches the Plaza. The Aqueduct arm crossing the plaza has a large set of carved stairways leading up in different directions, and some of the water flows down them into a great pool below. Monuments of Glory - These are monuments to great victories throughout the Theudaeric Hegemony's history. There are the following statues:- The Hubris Of Warasu'un - A proud Orc cast in Bronze is stretched in four directions, apparently in the process of being drawn and quartered. A look of pain and anger is frozen on his face.
- First Friends - Depicting a Goblin King bowing, laying his hunting bow at the feet of a proud Hobgoblin warlord.
- Submission Of Gruumsh -
- Ogre's Bane - fight ogre
- Ska'herz Maduk, A New Home - Bugbear friend
- The Great Attonement - Goblin Rebellion
- Taming Of The Behemoths - Ogres join.
- At the Mouth Of The Pata'co - A great victory over the tabaxi
Warcaster's Complex
The Warcaster's Complex almost resembles a military compound, with low, single story buildings stretching out within a small fenced area and walkways between. Most spellcasters hone their art here, through rigorous physical and mental training.Drunfarr's Bulwark
The Grand Bank of the Hegemony, presided over by a subjegated Blue Dragon. The Fetid Warren
Goblin Breeding Pits, the Fetid Warren is a set of three hexagonal holes in the ground, walled off from the rest of the city. Inside, a small piece of Udkac comes to life. Stretching out of the pits are shoddy towers of wood and the stench of goblin breeding goo. Screeching, bickering, and goblin chattering can be heard echoing out from this place.Horned Cove/The Flayed Way
The Horned Cove is a Waterfront city some miles from Cheldrad, though it is claimed by the city. Several days travel along the Flayed Way is necessary to reach the city of Horned Cove. This is the largest trading hub for the Hegemony. Due to Cheldrad's prominence, no buying or selling of goods is permitted within the cove, only storing and transport. All goods must make their way up the road to be bartered. The Flayed Way, historically, displayed with great prominence the flayed bodies of those who did not keep the laws of the land. Horned Cove is named as such due to the great curving spires of eroded rock sticking out of the water. Many are sharp and without proper guidance ships can easliy founder.
