I have to tell you a secret, one that could change the world forever… Chaos reigns. The land cries out... We have eyes everywhere… The world is on the brink of war. The Ivarian Empire seeks dominion over all creation. Lines are being drawn as we speak! Whose side are you on? The only nation with a hope of stopping the Empire’s conquest is the young Republic of Mannestra. Death is just the next step… You first! But all in Mannestra. As the discussion on what to do about the Empire continues, murmurings of civil war begin to rise. When the system fails, we will balance the scales. Deep in the forests of Noesis, the simple folk who call the village of Endril home cannot be concerned with the troubles of the outside world, at least that is until the troubles come to them. Recently bandit activity in the area surrounding Endril has increased dramatically. It is only a matter of time before the bandits’ gazes fall on the small village. The Rangers of the Emerald Forest wish to keep the bandits at bay, but the number of those who would do harm to the elves, gnomes, and humans of the village increases by the day. No one knows where all of these bandits are coming from or what they truly seek. One thing is for sure, these bandits are not merely raiding unsuspecting villages. They are looking for something, probably for someone. After a thirty-year, self-imposed exile, the old “madman” finally deems it time to return to civilization. While the answers he sought eluded (and even damaged) him, something draws him to the villages below his mountainous prison. Perhaps the answers he truly seeks are down below. A (usually) lone warrior travels through the forest this day. He seeks power. Or at least, one or a cause who is powerful enough to be worthy of his service. Today, another travels with him. A resident from Kar who sought enlightenment has left his hermitage early -- things are not right. An envoy of the Apostle comes to Noesis seeking aid in the coming confrontations. As talks of alliances continue, the envoy’s guard can’t help but feel as though their country will not get the aid that they seek from this king and his despicable advisor. They should be looking to the gods for aid, not easily corrupted and decrepit relics of a bygone era. The choice is up to you. Will you aid those in need and help put a stop to the tyranny of a corrupted emperor? Will you seek to infiltrate and sway the inner workings of the Republic? Will you confront the bandit scourge and claim what they seek? Battle leads to politics and politics lead to battle in this world. Keep your allies close and keep an eye on your enemies less you become the next casualty of war. THEME: Good Does Not Always Triumph
