You brandish the weapon used in the spell's casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack's normal effects and after a flash of lightning, storm clouds form around their current space until the start of your next turn. If the target has not moved 5 feet or more away from their prior location before then, the target takes 1d12 thunder damage, and the spell ends.
 
At higher levels: This spell's damage increases when you reach certain character levels.

  • At 5th level: The melee attack deals an extra 1d8 lightning damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes if it doesn't move 5 or more feet increases to 2d12 .
  • At 11th level: The melee attack deals an extra 2d8 lightning damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes if it doesn't move 5 or more feet increases to 3d12 .
  • At 17th level: The melee attack deals an extra 3d8 lightning damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes if it doesn't move 5 or more feet increases to 4d12 .
