The spell creates a ward against elemental energy, giving you resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of your next turn. Also, as part of this reaction you can channel some of the warded energy towards a creature you can see within 60 feet. The target takes 2d6 damage of the triggering type.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell at 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each level above 2nd.
