Disposition
When you first meet an NPC, the GM will establish their disposition towards you. A character's disposition reflects how they view your character, which will inform how they're likely to behave in social interactions, and whether they're likely to help or harm you. The GM doesn't announce a character's disposition towards you, though you may be able to glean how the character feels based on how they behave towards you. There are six primary dispositions, which are summarized below.
- Devoted: Willing to help you and come to your aid no matter the peril.
- Helpful: Willing to help you and may accept significant risk or sacrifice to fulfill your requests.
- Friendly: Has a good attitude toward you, and might accept minor risk or sacrifice to assist you.
- Indifferent: Doesn't care about you either way. Will not accept any risk to assist you without being convinced it would benefit their goals.
- Unfriendly: Dislikes you and doesn't want to help you. Might do no harm or oppose you if convinced it would benefit their goals.
- Hostile: Actively works against you—and might attack you just because of their dislike. Cannot be convinced to assist you. Actively opposes you, but might be convinced with great difficulty and promise of benefit to do no harm instead.
