You summon an elemental in an unoccupied space that you can see within range and bind the summoned elemental to your service. Choose one of the following options for what appears:

  • Air Elemental
  • Earth Elemental
  • Fire Elemental
  • Water Elemental
The summoned creature is friendly to you and your companions. In combat, the creature shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don't issue any, it defends itself from hostile creatures, but otherwise takes no actions. When the summoned creature drops to 0 hit points, the creature disappears and is returned to the location it was summoned from, regaining 1 hit point upon arrival.

If your concentration is broken, the elemental doesn't disappear. Instead, you lose control of the elemental, it becomes hostile toward you and your companions, and it might attack. An uncontrolled elemental can't be dismissed by you, and it disappears 1 hour after you summoned it.
