Toggle (Tog-gull)
Toggles are small creatures originally native to the island of Quasil in the aquos archipelagos, & are historically renowned for being a gift given by the people of the island to invading forces during the aquos island skirmishes. Often cited as one of the main catalysts that de-escalated the conflicts into a full-blown civil war, toggles continue to be treated with kindness & respect to this day, & are a popular pet across the world.
Appearance
Toggles are small & round, roughly only 15-30cm in diameter, covered completely from head to toe in light brown fur. They have large, expressive eyes over a small muzzle with long, triangular ears atop their head. They have two small, stubby arms at their front with no hands at the end, and their legs are so short they can barely be seen under the fur, a stark contrast to their bulbous feet that point outward with only a single digit.
Diet & Behaviour
In the wild toggles mostly eat bugs for sustenance, however their digestive system is omnivorous & allows for a more varied diet when kept as pets. The toggles are a curious case of a creature, as they're raised in an environment free from natural predators despite their size & habits making them ripe targets for smaller predators in other parts of the world. In their isolated capacity, they thrived without threat, which in part is what made them as amicable as they were at first to the settlers of Quasil, whom mostly fished for food.
Toggles have a vast array of personalities as a result, most of which being kind & curious, or attempting to copy their owners in some capacity. Even in the wild some toggles would press themselves against flowers or plants in various attempts to dye their fur to customise their identity. Toggles also seem to have some natural control over the length of their fur, as cases where it's been shaved off usually grow back to its natural length in a couple of days, but instances where a toggle has attempted to cut of parts of their fur themselves have taken considerably longer for it to regrow.
It's partially because of these features & behaviours that toggles are as popular as they are as pets, allowing for a lot of customisation between toggles. However a common misconception is that toggles are happy with any change of appearance they're given, but it's more that their personalities often come to reflect that of those they're around. Toggles tend to be flexible in how they like to look, but it is still ultimately their decision, & attempting to go against how they desire to look can & will cause distress that may lead to the toggle attempting to abandon their owner, though success in these cases is often limited due to their physical physique.
