Hillhome roamer

Hillhome roamers (or hillroamers for short) are one of the many species lovingly dubbed "roamers" after their insatiable wanderlust that drives them to travel far and wide, despite being a delicacy for many larger creatures. Despite their small stature, they're capable of reaching rather high speeds in short bursts, an ability often used for escaping predators & crossing open terrain with little foliage to hide in.   Appearance   Hillroamers average around 15-25cm in length and are usually a grasslike green, an effect that helps them camouflage in grassy areas, especially in conjunction with the quills covering the entirety of their backs. Their paws only have three toes with small, curved claws suited for digging small burrows.     Diet & Behaviour   Hillroamers are technically omnivorous though heavily leaning towards being fully herbivorous; these adventurous creatures will eat all sorts that they're given, and whilst they don't actively hunt this can include small dead creatures & bugs. Hillroamers have a sporadic cycle between being active & sleeping, where they will spend 4 hours active before resting for 2, often finding a more heavily foliaged area to rest, where they'll prop themselves near a solid, stationary object to minimise the chance of randomly being stepped on. They often have a main burrow within a hill or other inclined space, allowing them to have some sort of bearing home from a distance, where they'll return to near the end of autumn & leading up to winter where they'll hibernate. Hills will usually burrow more than one hillroamer, and once spring rolls around the hillroamers will seek mates. The life cycle of hill roamers is notably short, with most in the wild living only 3-4 years, though some kept in captivity have been known to live for 7-8 years.
