Emperor Gaius Khress Orvulia

Gaius Khress Orvulia is the current reigning emperor of the Orvulian Empire.  He oversees the empire as a whole and directly manages the rules of the individual dominances.  He is the final decision on any major laws or decisions.  He is also seen as the leader of the Orvulian military.  He came to power 13 years ago when his father, Teriant Berivor Orvulia died due to a stroke.  He currently married with three children, an eldest daughter, a son, and a young daughter.  He is unique among Orvulian emperors in that he does not have a group of concubines.  His reign has seen a step down from the hostilities his father created at the border with Corvus Sclavaa.  He has mainly overseen interior projects, maintaining highways, building new roads and towns.  During the past years, he has become increasingly remote from daily governance.  In another rare show of Orvulian emperors, he has named his eldest daughter, Mayaleirra.  She has become increasingly involved with governance, at the lower levels.

The emperor is considered fit for his age, he has been known to still follow training exercises from the Orvulian navy.

Facial Features

Gaius sports a full beard and long hair that is pulled back into a small ponytail.  His features are square and can seem as if cut from stone.  His eyes are especially vibrant, often being described as being able to see through to a person.

Specialized Equipment

As Emperor of the Orvulian Empire, Gaius folds the honorary weapon of the station.  A shardic weapon of the second era known as Bloodcrest.  This is a massive greatsword instilled with many arcane runes along the blade and glows a faint red.

Personal history

Gaius was born as the fourth child to his father Teriant, of a total of seven children.  He had an older brother who at a young age was declared the heir.  However, the brother died when Gaius was 30.  He was then the next heir to the throne, a role that he had not prepared for.  He had already married and his first child, Mayaleirra had already been born.  Over the next six years, he spent nearly all his time training for when he would become Emperor.  He spent much time away from the capital of Orvulia, interacting with other nations and races.  It was while he was serving as a diplomat to the kingdom of Serenteraq, that news of his father's death reached him.  He was rushed back to Orvulia, with one of the six known individuals known to still retain arcane abilities, teleporting him to the capital.  There he was crowned the same day and took up the role of emperor.

Education

Gaius was educated by a private tutor for his younger years.  Upon reaching the age of 13 he was educated in the university system of Orvulia.

Employment

Before he was the heir, Gaius served as an officer in the Orvulian navy.  He was the commanding officer of a ship for a couple of years before moving on to a position in the navy's finances department.

Mental Trauma

There are rumors of significant difficulties within the Orvulia family during his youth.  Several rumors of domestic violence have leaked out, all of which have been denied by his father.  It is thought that this violence during his youth has lead to his peaceful inclination as emperor.

Gaius is known to worship Naln, over his rule he has made considerable donations to the various temples to the goddess around the empire.

Social Aptitude

A rumor that has circulated around Gaius since his youth, proposes that the emperor has developmental issues. He is known to be somewhat claustrophobic and does not like physical contact beyond members of his family. He also tends to not make direct eye contact with whoever he speaks to.

Hobbies & Pets

Gaius is fond of cats, keeping several at his palace.  Each of these has some special relation to the emperor.  Some bring from the litter of the ship's cat, from the vessel he captained.  To several having been drug in by his children.
