Gnome

Gnomes are a small-ish race of fast talking, kind hearted folk, known for their ingenious inventions and happy-go-lucky outlook on life.  Though not all gnomes are inventors, it is usually a safe bet to rely on a gnome, when encountering a problem of technical nature. Be it a broken spoke on a wheel, a faulty pipe in a oven, or a cog missing teeth in a clock, gnomes can be relied upon to find a fast, sometimes, dangerous solution.

3 sub-races of gnomes are known:

Rock gnomes are the tinkeres of the mortal plane. They have a natural affinity for anything mechanical and technical, and loves working with moving parts of any machine. They are hardier than their cousins, perhaps given their tendency to, atleast once in their lives, blow themselves up with some new invention.

Forest gnomes are the farmers and inventors of the farming world. While they lack proficiency with the more technical aspects of machinery, they are naturals in using nature to their advantage. 

Deep gnomes are the least numerous of the gnomes, given their dangerous ways of life. Deep gnomes, called Svirfneblin in the gnomish tongue, live in the deepest parts of the mountains, mining alongside the dwarves and building their fortress cities of technology within the hearts of mountains. Deep gnomes usually live as the lowest of the Cast in the kingdoms of the Mountain Dwarves, though this is not always the case. They are more dexterious than their cousins and able to hide within the darkness of stony passages, at the blink of the eye.
