Elf
Tall and pretty, the perfect visage of what the Gods had envisioned for the mortal races (according to themselves at least), the Elves are known for their arts, magic and their in-living with nature.
Given their unusually long lives, elves tend to do everything with a absolute patience. Why rush learning a new cooking recipe, when you can perfect it over a dozen years or so.
Because of their long lives, elven societies tend to develop significantly slower than other cultures. Other mortal races that visit the same elven cities after a couple of decades, may find that absolutely nothing has changed: the same people live in the same houses, and frequent the same stools in the same wine bars.
Elves can be categorized in 5 different sub-races:High Elves are the elves gods answer to the civilized parts of mortal life. The High elves are builders, architects and scholars. Some would say that they are the pillars of the elven societies, giving civilization its foundation.
Wood Elves are the raw power of the elven gods. Wood elves live as part of nature, though this can take various forms. Rumours of half-naked, barbarous and wild elves that attack whoever enters their territory unwelcomed, are, most of the time, laughably wrong. Wood elves are as often found in elves cities, as in the wilds of the forests. No matter their living conditions, wood elves pay great reverance to nature.
Eladrin are the ancestors of the first elves, that came from the Feywild. Were the other elven sub-races were made on the material plane, the eladrin travlled from the feywild to the mortal plane. These elves are usually more chaotic in nature, prolivic to a life of adventure and pleasure. They come in 4 different variants, one for each season of nature. Eladrin are fairly easily recognized, as the elements of their season are usually "dripping" off of them, though this trait has somewhat lessened through the millenias.
Sea Elves are a rare and peculiar sub-species of Elves. While no one is certain, it is believed that a clan of Eladrin travelled to the Elemental Plane of Water and settled there long ago, eventually evolving into a new sub-race of Elves known as Sea Elves. Breathing the air in water like fish do, Sea Elves cannot live outside of watery domains and are therefore almost unseen outside of their home plane.
