Sun Orchid

Sun orchids are orange-red orchids that grow off of black stems only where they have access to water heated by the sun yet shaded from the moon at night. Given that there were few trees in Fréole, and fewer still that opened at night to absorb what little water was often available during periods without the sun, it was rare to find Sun orchids growing “naturally”. Sun orchids were highly potent and nearly all portions of the plant could be used to create powerful potions, mutagens, and even bombs, with the pollen of the plant explosively combustible when exposed to oil of any kind.
