Gnomes

The first few Fréolaens who travelled across the strait did so before any significant people from Laerdt’nah had explored the seas, and so Fréolaens were dubbed “gnomes” since many thought they were insane when they spoke of the desert and simply had “no homes”. For those Fréolaens that others did not like, gnomes became a convenient xenophobic remark, and what someone called those clearly from Fréole (obvious due to their smaller stature and varied facial structure) said much of their character.
