Elves

”Elves” was a term created by the bastardized pronunciation of “halves”, specifically in regards to people from Konard (who were known to have difficult pronouncing the soft h sound). This term demonstrated what people thought of those from Konard: they were “half-people”, though this sometimes meant that they were viewed as beyond people and sometimes meant that they were viewed as less than people. The people of Konard, a tall and sinewy people who were connected to the spaces they inhabited and who lived for hundreds of years, were not generally well liked outside of their own nation, though they were tolerated like all others in Endref. Those who had lineage from Konard were sometimes called “half-elves”, though they were more commonly called “quarters”. Such people were not, generally speaking, very common (given the general attitude toward Konard).
