Energy Sensitivity
An individual with magical capabilities can manipulate Magic.
All Draconids have energy sensitivity, with Dragons being particularly powerful (1 in 1 000 dragons exhibit Knacks).
About 1 in 10 000 Humans will have energy sensitivity and 1 in 1 000 000 will have Knacks. Modern science is able to determine if a human baby has magic potential after it is 16-18 months old. All attempts to artificially recreate or induce magic ability have failed. Scientists think that magic capability might be marginally affected by inherited genetics, but it has large inconsistency with any gene or genes they’ve attempted to analyse.
There is a link between energy sensitivity and intelligence, as some members of relatively intelligent non-human non-draconid species (including some great apes, dolphins, elephants, and even crows) have been observed to exhibit limited energy sensitivity and manipulation capabilities.
Transmission & Vectors
It is believed that genetics play a large role in the transmission, as offspring of energy sensitive individuals have been observed to have a higher rate of occurrence. Yet, individuals with no known energy sensitive ancestors can also be born with sensitivity. The mechanics are not fully understood by modern sciences.
Symptoms
Sensitivity to high concentrations of energy or movements beyond their mundane perceptual range.
Cultural Reception
In most human societies, mages are often elevated to positions of power and respect, but they can also be feared and distrusted.
