Rules for the usage of Arcane Power

The The Archwizards have decreed this law that every user of arcane power must obey. These laws were created as a reaction to the destruction of TuilĂ«.   The law states:
All arcane and divide spells shall be divided into 8 schools: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy and Transmutation, according to their nature. Wizards will be allowed to specialize in at most one of these schools.   Arcane spellcasters must not seek immortality beyond their natural timespan, and spells must not be used for that purpose. The creation of undead out of sentient creatures is forbidden.   Magic should follow the principle of Equivalent Exchange. Spells were designed in a way that their casting requires Material Components. Casting these spells without providing the required components is forbidden. Magical research in new spells should include the need for material components in order for this principle to be maintained.

Regarding Wizards

A person becomes a wizard when they go under a period of apprenticeship that should not be less than 10 years, under a single master. The master becomes at this moment the responsible for the apprentice, and answers for all acts the apprentice might commit. The master also assumes the responsibility of training the apprentice to be a full wizard, and educate him in all aspects of magic, including it's intricacies, laws and taboos. When the master judges the apprentice is ready, the apprentice shall be judged on his or her knowledge and abilities by a jury composed of no less than 5 wizards. These will either give the title of Wizard to the apprentice, or the apprentice will need to go back to training.   The bond between a master and apprentice is permanent until the apprentice becomes a Wizard or either part dies. Once an apprentice is accepted, masters cannot abandon their education. If a master should die, the apprentice should not cast a single spell until being assigned to another master. Therefore, it is expected from Masters that they make arrangements for their apprentices in case they die.   Knowledge should be shared. Wizards should seek new apprentices in order to assure their research and abilities are kept through the ages.

Localization

Nobody knows why these laws were defined anymore. Elf societies respect them fully. In human towns, however, these laws are beginning to be seen as antiquated, and some arcane institutions no longer pay any heed to them.
