Leopold Octavius

Leopold Octavius was an extraordinarily wealthy entrepreneur based near Stagshead in Talevir.   Octavius's holdings and influence shaped a great deal of late-era Talevir, with his influence particularly significant in the southeast of the continent.

Vermeillon

While researching various interests at the library of Candlekeep, Octavius was made aware of a peculiar book being passed around by the avowed. He paid for a copy of the book to be made for himself and found inside a tale of an old abandoned platinum mine and the tragedy that befell the town nearby. Octavius pursued the origin of the book and ultimately secured the rights to the town and mine for his exclusive use, allegedly at a great cost.   Before he could re-open the mine, Octavius turned to an associate, Shooter McGee, to investigate these rumors of hauntings and secure the mine. Shooter McGee, Duke Tallyrand and Mei-Lei Zard agreed to venture to the town of Vermeillon and confront whatever horrors lie there in exchange for 10% ownership of the Platinum Mine. This deal proved to be costly for Octavius, and debate still rages on over why he would agree to such dramatic requests. Rumors around the veracity of his ownership claims over the town lead some to believe that Octavius was moving to secure the mine before a competitor could arrange a claim on it themselves. Whatever the reason, the deal produced immense wealth for the party of adventurers.   Once his associates verified that the town of Vermeillon and the Platinum Mine were both secure and safe, Octavius employed a great force of workers and miners to restore the town and mine.
