Session 30 - Back from the dead but where the fuck are we?

General Summary

The fire elemental casts a fireball and we all take criticals. Digby loses initiative for the first two rounds, Tripp is stunned for one round, Brovar is untouched, Lilrie is only lightly injured, Baka is knocked down, and Sai Kyo cannot attack this round, but can parry. Stepping up, Brovar attacks with his long sword doing a 30E critical, for 3 more hits and with his mace, he lands probably one of his biggest hits to date for 46 damage and two criticals, which do another 25 hits. Baka gets back up as the elemental attacks Brovar and Lilrie, hitting her for 17 damage as it tries to wrap its arms around Brovar, doing 7 damage and stunning him for 6 rounds and putting him on -50. Monsters do love grabbing Brovar! Digby attacks next with a tremendous 48E strike, and the fire elemental collapses away into nothing. Something strange seems to then happen, as what appears to be a dust devil made of sand particles rises from the floor, condenses into a pebble and then moves over to Brovar, spinning above his head so quickly as to be invisible. Brovar is still aware of it, but has no idea what it is doing. We take “yish” out of the circle and do not replace it. Tripp then tries to pull the lever, but it doesn’t work. Brovar steps up next as we replace “yish” with “kolmu” and it stops on “lijawng”, Sun, and Digby is suddenly healed. Lilrie also heals herself for 4 hits. This time Sai Kyo goes into the middle and pulls the lever again. It points to “kolmu” and an enormous giant appears in the room. This learning process is really painful! Brovar attacks it with his long sword, but fumbles, juggling his weapon for two rounds. His mace attack does 11 damage. Baka prepares Numbing which will take effect next round. Digby casts Shield on himself and then swings with his battle-axe for 18 damage and a critical, for 7 more hits. Tripp fires his first arrow doing 8 damage, his second doing 17 damage and a critical for 9 more hits. Sai Kyo hits the giant for 10 damage and a critical, doing 5 more hits. The giant swings its club at Lilrie who casts Shield instantly, but the giant still does 35 damage and an A crush critical, doing 3 more damage, forcing her to parry next round, and the giant gets +5 to its next attack.
Sai Kyo attacks first for 15 damage and a critical, which does 10 more hits. Digby casts Attack instantly and then wallops the giant, for 40 damage, and a critical which is open-ended! He stuns the giant for one round, doing 25 more hits, putting him on -20. The giant appears quite upset. Brovar attacks with his mace doing 15 damage and a critical, for 5 more hits. Baka casts Numbing, but it has no effect. Lilrie steps back to heal herself.
Next round Tripp is up first, his first arrow doing 13 damage and a critical, for 5 more hits, and his second doing 14 damage and a critical, for 5 more hits. Sai Kyo strikes for 14 and a critical, for 3 more hits. Baka is up next, and just manages not to fumble. Digby does 19 damage and a critical, for 8 more hits. Brovar hits the giant with his mace for 21 damage and a critical, for 3 more hits. The giant attacks Brovar with his club for 50 damage a crush critical, so that he is fighting at -5 next round, cannot get initiative over the giant, and takes 30 more damage. Lilrie attacks with her morning star for 12 damage.
Brovar attacks with his long sword doing 10 damage and a critical, for 8 more hits. His mace also hits for 19 damage and a critical, for 10 more hits. Sai Kyo does 13 damage and a critical for 10 more hits. The giant attacks Digby this turn, for 45 damage and a critical, stunning him for 3 rounds and doing a further 40 damage. Tripp fires his first arrow doing 17 damage and a critical, for 4 more damage, his second arrow doing 20 damage and a critical, doing 9 more damage. Lilrie attacks again doing 5 damage. Baka casts Shield and then attacks to save Brovar, doing 7 damage. First again Brovar attacks with his long sword killing the giant at last. Again, some of the sand on the ground rises, collapsing into a pebble and then flies towards Lilrie, spinning round her head, until it becomes invisible, just as happened to Brovar.
Baka casts Pain Relief to heal herself of the 10 hits she lost as we discuss how to heal the rest of us up. Lilrie heals Digby healing him for 18 hits, but for some reason he is only healed for 9. Lilrie also heals Brovar, but while she thought he should be healed for 34, he was only healed by 17. Brovar, she heals again for 11, and Digby also for 11, the amount being reduced again. We decide to try to sleep, but we find that we cannot, which means that we cannot get our hit points back. We decide to remove the “kolmu” stone, but find that we cannot. In desperation we start breaking up some of the roofing for firewood so that Lilrie can brew up some Reglan to create a healing potion. This works with Brovar and Digby both getting 25 hits back.
Baka pulls the lever and it points to “lijawng” and Digby is healed for 20 points. This time it lands on “sunji” and we wait tensely for something to happen. A circular heat haze starts to form, and engulfs Brovar who starts shaking as if in a fit. He collapses and when he recovers, he says that he feels more confident in his abilities. Hearing that, Sai Kyo mutters under his breath that he has probably lost some intelligence, but he has actually levelled up to level 7!!
Baka, volunteered once more, pulls the lever again. It lands on “tashe” and we all get struck by lightning bolts. Brovar takes 6 damage, Lilrie also takes 6 damage, Baka is stunned for 4 rounds and takes 13 hits, Tripp, Digby and Sai Kyo are all hit by a massive electrical bolt, and fall to the ground. Baka rushes over to Sai Kyo, but he appears dead as do the others. Have they pulled their last lever??
We stand close to their bodies and decide to use the Time Stone to take us back in time. We cannot think of any alternative, and anyway had discussed this as a last resort should one of us get killed. So, Baka takes the stone out of her pack, looks at Brovar and Lilrie for final confirmation and crushes it.
The world turns black and we lose consciousness...... to be continued
