Session 3 - Emerin Wash's House

General Summary

Petra shows us where Effa is, just off the coast from Marinsholme . She says that she only wants the pestle and mortar, but Emerin Wash may have other things in his country house which we can help ourselves to. The elves give us 24 arrows, 8 for each of our bowmen. We head over to Emerin Wash’s country house, about 5 to 6 miles out of town. It is off the road, in a secluded dell of trees. We approach from the side of the house which is two-storey about 1am in the morning. There are three windows, one with bars, one with a light on, and one dark.   We split into two groups, Tripp, Lilrie and Sai Kyo approach the windows and Brovar, Digby and Baka go further round the house, towards the horses. Tripp’s group can see into the lounge thru the darkened window and see a firepit which is cooling. Tripp opens the window, they pile in and check out the room. Tripp and Sai Kyo then move to a door which leads out into a corridor close to a lantern and go outside while Lilrie stays in the room, watching the corridor. Brovar’s group see windows on the other wing of the house and peer into one, seeing a woman sleeping. Digby thinks there is someone in the room next door too. As they are deciding their next move a guard rounds the corner. The group start to quietly prepare for a fight, but Digby didn’t get the message and bangs his two-handed battle-axe on the window sill and the guard hears us. In a brief fight Digby makes up for his clumsiness scoring an 11A crush critical, driving the guard’s jaw through his brain and killing him instantly. So maybe he made the noise deliberately? I wouldn’t put it past the blood-thirsty meathead. They quickly drag the body into the trees, but three more guards soon appear from around the corner.   Brovar rips into them with an arrow getting the first hit, a 13B puncture with 2 extra damage. Another one comes out of the brick building directly in front of them, wearing only a towel, but carrying a sword. Digby is then hit for 7 damage, the first taken by the party to date. Brovar drops his bow and attacks with long sword and mace, hitting with both for 10A plus 1 and 10 damage. Baka prepares a spell. Next round Digby takes out his second guard with another crushing blow, but Brovar misses with both weapons. Baka fires Hesitation at the man in the towel and the spell hits him, but he ignores it. Digby follows up with 18B crush critical causing another 12 hits, breaking the guards’ ribs and killing him. Lucky for Baka, Brovar (“my hero!”) wades into towel man hitting him for 7A puncture critical and 1 extra hit with his long sword and dealing 10 damage with his mace. He misses with his long sword in the next round, but does 9 damage with his mace. Digby then joins the one-sided fight swinging his battle-axe with relish and hitting for a 33E crush critical, catching the foe in his armpit causing 30 additional damage opening up his rib cage to expose his internal organs. His towel is a bit bloody! “We were going to question him!”, Digby mutters to himself.   Back in the house Sai Kyo moves into the corridor and tries the door by the lantern which seems to be locked. As Tripp tries to pick the lock someone runs down the corridor and Lilrie steps out to meet him, hitting him for 8 damage. The next round she does better, scoring a 16B puncture critical to the neck stunning him for two rounds and causing him to bleed at 3 hits per round. Sai Kyo joins her and strikes the guard for 11C, stunning him for another round and adding another 8 hits. Lilrie then decides to get serious, rolling a 137 in total for a 23D crush critical taking out most of one calf and killing him. She might not be able to seduce a drunken OAP, but who cares!   Outside the fun continues with three more guards approaching from the bushes at the rear of the house. At the same time there is a noise behind Baka and she hears a voice, “so hello sweetie, you couldn’t stay away”. She recognizes Jake Cardho who used to be an apprentice at Stonehaven. While there he had made unwanted advances on Baka and Lilrie and Digby had had to step him from going to far. After that he had left the community. Baka feels sick to hear stomach on hearing his voice again. Brovar wades into the three guards, hitting the first for 8 damage with his long sword and 15E crush critical with his mace fracturing the man’s leg giving an additional 12 damage and minus 10 initiative. Digby also hits a guard for 13A and getting +1 initiative. Brovar hits the same guard again with a 12C crush critical, stunning him and making him unable to parry ever again because he is dead. Digby hits his guard for 13A giving him another 5 hits, stunned, unable to parry for two rounds and on minus 20 next round. Baka lets go of the spell that she prepared but Jake makes a save against it.   Digby is in the wars again, taking a 7A puncture critical and an extra 5 damage and is stunned for the next 6 rounds. Brovar slashes his guard’s neck giving him a 11A slash critical, plus 3 hits and stunning him. His mace then adds another 7 damage. On his next turn Brovar ends the man with a 20E crush critical, giving him an additional 30 damage as he opens the man’s ribcage, dispatching him and showing Digby that anything that he can do, Brovar can do just as well. Digby bleeds away at 5 hits per round as Baka ducks from Jake’s mailed fist twice in a row, hitting him with harsh words to no apparent effect.   Seeing his pathetic attempts to attack her, she starts laughing at him. She sees that this is driving him mad and he reaches for his short sword (not that one guys, come on). Taking the initiative, she runs back to be shielded by Brovar, who then moves to attack the man hacking at Digby hitting him for 4 damage and using his reverse stroke on Jake causing another 4 damage. Jake attacks Brovar from behind and still can’t hit him. What a useless douchebag! By now Baka is laughing non-stop. Lilrie comes running after Brovar screams for her to help Digby.   Meanwhile Sai Kyo steps up to meet the guard in the corridor. Sai Kyo throws the guard multiple times, 1A+7 stunned for 2 rounds +20, 10E stunned again +7, 7A+8, 8E chest strike to finish him off. He dies completely pummeled, unable to lay a finger on Sai Kyo, the shadow.   Back outside, Lilrie takes out the last guard from behind with 23E crush blast to her foe’s back bone, driving it thru his organs as he drops and dies. Brovar takes on Jake, rolling a 156 with his long sword dealing 17D puncture causing 2 more hits and forcing him to parry next round. He follows up with the mace for four damage, misses with the long sword, and hits again with the mace for another four damage. Brovar continues to carve Jake up, like a butcher with a carcass, and eventually puts him out cold, but not before taking a hit himself. Baka takes the opportunity to kick Jake where it hurts – if you can’t kick someone when they are down, when can you kick them?! While Brovar is carving up Jake, Lilrie gives first aid to Digby, managing to stop his bleeding completely. She then does concussion mastery healing him for 8, 9 and 8 hits. Digby owes her big-time and she needs to rest for 8 hours to get her spell points back.   Brovar then ties up Jake and grabs his bow before they herd all the civilians who have woken up into the store room by the kitchen and lock them in. There is a weapon rack with nothing of any value, but Baka picks up a short sword as harsh words are just not cutting it. Brovar’s group then joins the others in the study and together they start searching the book cases and desk drawers. Tripp finds a secret door and manages to open it to reveal a staircase leading down. Sai Kyo leads the way down into a cave finding a table, three chests and barrels. Tripp checks the two standard chests for traps, finding couple of metal helmets, 100 silver and 10 gold. As Tripp tries to open the last, ornate chest he fails badly (1% fumble) and collapses to the ground unconscious. Sai Kyo uses a crowbar to open the chest and finds the pestle and a small wine glass full of liquid, also an old, greenish cloak. Lilrie opens the flask and sniffs it but it is pale blue in colour and odorless. She tries pouring some into Tripp’s mouth but it has no apparent effect. Looking at the cloak is strange as it is not possible to tell how the dappling patterns are made. Unfortunately, neither of the helms fit Digby nor Brovar, but they could probably be modified for them.   Digby, our resident pyromaniac, wants to burn the main house down, so we move the servants out and into the bunkhouse and he gleefully sets it on fire. We leave, taking the three extra horses, and head towards Petra’s which will take us past Calatan. As we approach Calatan there is a great commotion and we can see that some buildings outside of Calatan are ablaze. Tripp is starting to come round, but is still groggy. An Ogre comes charging out, obliterating one of the houses...
