After the First Seating, the Red Dragon clans went through a civil strife, where a large number of the clan wished to continue their traditional practice of radical and uncompromising draconic supremacy over those they wished, whereas the other side of the clan wished to observe the orderly rule instilled by the Council of Wyrms. This dispute led to a civil war, where the clan was forever divided.
Ignisbrand, grandson of Redbrand, the founder of the Red Dragon clan had grown dissatisfied with the lot of his clan in bowing and serving the council, no matter the level of prestige that accompanied their duty, he was never one to be bound by the legislation of beings he observed to be lesser than himself. He grew greatest in contention with his cousin, Scorchbrand, who sat on the Council of Wyrms as the Red clan representative. For years into the rule of the council, Ignisbrand felt his liberties and will as a victor of the Titan Wars was being oppressed by the watchful eye of the Council and his cousin. This animosity festered and grew, coaxed by like minded red dragons. Ignisbrand, then approached the Council and declared for himself a barony in the south of Preydor along the Red Spine. After he had fortifie himself in that range of volcanoes, he struck out on his own, renouncing the Red Clan that sat on the council as slugish and not worthy of the bloodline of Redbrand. This act led the Red dragons into a civil war between the Council and Feral clans, a nomenclature that has stuck to the modern day. Ignisbrand and his son, Moltenbrand were able to survive the war, along with their followers and kept their distance from the Council lands. They kept to the traditional customs of their kind, despite the clan further dividing into smaller familial groups. Though they are not well documented, the Red clan wars are known as a turning point for Dragon Kind by means of their identify as the Council or those who forsake the order of it.
