Mesomine
The home of the red Legion and the Red Cabal. A legendary military arm of an old and mostly forgotten evil, that, thankfully, was never unleashed upon the world. Now, that old militant order has become a cutthroat confederacy of principalities hellbent on expansion, spoils, and petty in-fighting. Should the Red Legion be reborn, or regain their direction and purpose, only gods know what hardships would befall the rest of the world.
Structure
Mesomine is ruled by a council called the Red Cabal, made up of ten lords of the empire. These lords are chosen through various means, dependent on the customs and rites of their respected provinces, however, from the ten is elected a Grand Chancellor, who serves a life sentence as ruler of all of Mesomine.
The Grand Chancellor chooses a vizier to serve as their second in command, whether it be another one of the lords, or someone else entirely. The point of this structure is to maintain an odd number in the Red Cabal, so as to break ties when it comes to votes made while in session, for a governing lord cannot serve as governor if they are a vizier. Historically, this has worked fairly well, not allowing one faction within the Cabal to gain more power than another.
The grand Chancellor holds all executive power over the empire, detached from the Red Cabal. Though, there are checks to keep the sanctity of the commonwealth intact, The Grand Chancellor may call the lords together at their leisure, may decree ordinances and dictate as they see fit. Much like an Emperor with divine providence, the Grand Chancellor is seen to have been chosen by God, and are themselves a manifestation of god's will, regardless of what political maneuvering and scheming played a role into their election.
The members of the Cabal reign over provinces conscripted into the empire and hold absolute power therein. When it comes to matters of individual states, they hold exclusive executive power. In this way, lords of the Cabal can raise armies, enforce legislature, and dictate affairs as they see fit within their respective province.
Public Agenda
Mesomine seeks to bring an order to Peydor and the lawless territories on the continent. They cling to the idea of an ancient empire that span most of the continent, butting up against the great Elven Imperium, that was lost millennia ago. They encourage their populous to empower themselves and embrace a warrior's culture of discipline and ambition, often driving lesser lords and the small folk to ferrous patriotism and white knuckling determination.
All citizens of Mesomine are trained in martial combat from a very early age. Those who are unfit to serve are sent elsewhere to serve their country, instructed that even in the mines, their service is invaluable and necessary to the success and enduring nature of the Empire.
Assets
Due to their previous campaigns and progress of conquest to unify their now twenty-seven provinces, Mesomine as amassed a great deal of wealth and renown in order to stand where they do on the world stage. Rich gold and silver mines have contributed to the country's wealth, while a dense amount of fertile farmland and natural defenses lend themselves to the swelling of loyal and dedicated population.
Mesomine boasts one of the strongest and most regimented military in the world, incorporating over a hundred various combat practices and styles from every corner of their empire. Alongside this, they have been able to develop a strong industrial economy based on the production of weapons, armor, and engines of war.
Thanks to the Dragon's Spine, a range of active volcanoes in the east of the empire, there is a great wealth of fertie farmland, allowing the population to constantly grow and swell. Though droughts are not uncommon in the area, thanks to the clouds of ash that will on occasion plume up into the sky, the climate constantly corrects itself and frequent rainfall is common around the spine.
Thanks to the rich industry and iron mines in the many mountains and lands of Mesomine, the country boasts a great overflowing wealth of military might, so much so that they actually have a great surplus of goods. For evey one soldier, they have seven swords, and thanks to the industry backing, that number grows by the day as well does the innovations in military research.
History
History does not well remember the Warlord's War on Preydor in the Fourth Ear. this is due in part to the fact that the legendary Warlord, himself would not allow anything to be written about his conquest until his goal had been achieved. therefore, upon his defeat, any documentation or account of the war was one sided and missing large chunks of the campaign. However, those stranded clans and tribes that once belonged to the Warlord's legions remember the account through song and legend. Upon this legend was built the foundations of Mesomine in it's earliest days.
In the south of Preydor were garrisoned the Red Legion, at the time of the war, they were boasted to be the most formidable force in the southern territories. After the disbandment of the Warlord's armies, they alone would remain in strict regimentation, ruled by War chiefs. Many of the clans surrounding the Red Legion's territory returned to a domesticated lifestyle, but the Red Legion would not let go of their pride.
Ambition swelled among the warchiefs, prompting some to go to war with each other, the victor of these conflicts assimilating the defeated clans into their own ranks. Before long, the Red Legion had been united into one legion once more, this time under a single Warmonger, the earliest king of Mesomine. Under the Warmongers, the newly established country of Mesomine set about rectifying the faults of their ancestors. It took some three hundred years for the shadow of the old Warlord's kingdom to rebuild itself, but it did so quickly under the name of Mesomine.
Before long, the Mesomine warchiefs came to attack the warchiefs of Rohar and found the barbaric quality of their enemies distasteful and embarrassing. An emissary to the kingdom of Ompari implored them to instruct the Warmongers in the way of bureaucracy and politics. With such instruction, Mesomine began to adopt a universal religion, currency, ad political system in order to secure order within their borders. Their expansion became slower, however, such an action ended up helping the new Empire grow more effectively. Rather than open war, they learned political strategy and courtly intrigue.
Shortly thereafter, the leaders of the Red Legion Warmongers became the Red Cabal, the governing council of the empire. At the turn of the Fifth Era, Mesomine had established itself as a world super power, rivaling that of the Anceint Elven Imperium and Empire of Denesen. However, due to deep seeded ambitious members of the Cabal, the empire's expansion slowed to nearly a halt. Internal affairs dominated the political table, but their military remains one of the most formidable on the continent, if not the world.
Tenets of Faith
Death is an inevitability, there is great honor and shame both in it's hallowed journey. Therefore, one should live as if they would die tomorrow and die in glorious reverence to the legacy and service done for the Homeland.
There is victory in every defeat. every chance one has to learn from their mistakes and evolve to never again make said mistake is a blessing by the gods. But the gods can only do so much, for it is up to the mortal to never allow themselves to folly again.
Misfortune for one is fortune for another, therefore, there is only the duty of the living to avoid misfortune dealt to them and deal it upon those who would oppose them.
Priesthood
The Red Priests of Mesomine are a radical and zealous group of religious fanatics, who will often see combat in the form of martyrdom. They pledge their lives to the service of the state and to the will of the Red Pantheon, who demand obedience and devotion without question.
