Dwarf

The Dwarves on a whole view themselves as the owners of all that lies below the surface of Elios. They believe that they were formed from the stone that surrounds them, which they believe is alive in some sense. She (and the stone is always female) surrounds them, sustains them and can, at her whim, destroy them all.
Large extended families are led by their white-bearded elders. When one's beard attains suitable whiteness, one becomes part of the council of elders whether desiring to or not.
The diet is rich and varied, with most staples being those root vegetables, lichens, and mushrooms that grow well beneath the earth. Wine, ale, and beer are favorite drinks, much of which comes from the surface. Many have sought to develop a lichen ale, or mushroom beer, with mixed results.
All Dwarves, no matter where they live, find some way to build their homes within the surface of Elios. Although much of their business can be housed and conducted on the surface, all prefer to sleep below ground.

Social Structure

The youngest inherits everything. 

• The eldest male is required to learn everything that the father knows and the eldest daughter does the same in regards to the mother. 
• The youngest children get all the leftovers and hand-me-downs and usually end up struggling the most in life. For this reason, the youngest male will receive the inheritance. If there is not any males in the lineage, then the youngest daughter will get everything. In a case where there is only 1 child, the inheritance will go to them unless the parents will it to the Kingdom. 

Facial characteristics

Facial hair growth means personal growth.

• Young males are not allowed to grow beards until they are married.
• Moustaches are not allowed unless the dwarf is a business owner, but it must be maintained at just the edges of the mouth. This does not mean that women can not own a business though. They just have to style their hair differently.
• Unmarried officials and politicians may grow a goatee, but it may not be any longer than 8 inches.
