Anthology of the Divines

The official collection of divine teachings for the major gods of Smiltis.

Purpose

To provide all of the major teachings and stories of the Smiltan gods in a single book.

Historical Details

Background

The book was created hundreds of years ago in an attempt to canonize a single body of text in relation to the multiple religions of Smiltis.  Though the effort was successful, it is not comprehensive, and more often than not there are several more obscure stories that are canonical, but are not mentioned in the anthology.  The book is seen more as a primer than a complete collection.

Public Reaction

Upon the release of the anthology, many priests were unhappy with the collection.  They thought it too broad and shallow for the common folk to truly understand their respective god.  Many of the smaller religions were also unhappy with the largest portion of the book being given to Avarden, who filled out nearly a third by himself.  The controversy blew over in the years of its release however, as there was a notable increase in interest for worship.
