Kesselium

Kesselium is a rare metal prized for its magical conductivity, making it an incredibly valuable material. This value has made it a common cause of conflicts.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Pure kesselium is a light-grey metal. It is very reflective, and mirrors for the very wealthy are sometimes made from it. When oxidised, kessellium takes a bluish hue and is also somewhat shiny.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Kesselium is very conductive to magic. It can also be 'polar
ised', meaning that magic can only flow a certain way. (Magical energy flowing side-on, will be converted into heat).

Geology & Geography

Kessellium is found in mountain areas, in small quantities. There are higher concentrations in Shadra and the Senestrian plains. As a result of this, many parts of the plains are fiercely contested, although Shadra has largely been left alone due to its militarism.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Studs made of Kesselium can be put into the clothes of a mage to increase their power and lessen the effects of mana burn. Kessellium is also often used by Artificers due to its high magical conductivity. Its magical conductivity has made enchantment possible.

Reusability & Recycling

Kesselium is fully recyclable, although melting it will remove polarisation. Recycling of Kesselium is common due to its rare nature.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Kessellium is very rare and is often only sold by merchants of high-value commodities for huge sums. More recently, Kesselium in Thorn has become far more difficult to obtain due to mines in the Long Mountains running dry.
