Jevsaem

Jevsaem (translated to Snowkeep) is a military outpost in the northeast of Shadra, built to protect against an unlikely, but possible attack from Syndal. After time passed, and it became evident that it would be very improbable that Syndal would launch an attack, especially from that location, as Shadra had overestimated Syndal's winter equipment. As a result, they now use it mainly as a place to train soldiers. It is also the birthplace of King Jasef Tesi.

Defences

Jevsaem is a veritable fortress, with walls that dwarf a man many times over, and a permanent group of hardened soldiers trained for the winter in station.

Industry & Trade

The outpost does not export anything, having no resources of its own. It is forced to import food, as nothing grows there.

Infrastructure

A large furnace system keeps the indoor areas of Jevsaem warm enough to safely eat and sleep in.

Assets

Summercamp has large storehouses, capable of hoarding food and water stockpiles that can last for months.

History

The outpost was built in 1821 as a safeguard for the event of Syndal launching an attack through the poorly defended north. Although it still officially retains this purpose, it now mainly acts as a way of "toughening up" soldiers, giving them training against freezing winters and poor conditions, as it has become evident that Syndal have neither the equipment, nor the training, of launching an attack from the north Soldiers that have spent time in Jevsaem are often nicknamed Jevalmer, or "Frost born".

Geography

The area surrounding the fortress is incredibly cold, reaching -20 degrees Celcius in the winter. Large portions of the ground are covered in ice and snow can be up to three meters deep in places.
