Danis Firewebb

Maiden Danis Firewebb

A girl of legend. Her mother was an Amrayen girl kidnapped by the Dlinaat. She was treated very well for a captive, and was even given the option to return home. She however wished to stay a little longer and learn their language and ways. She and the young man who was her master or benefactor were mutually attracted and after a year and a half he asked her to marry him. This caused a temporary uproar, but as it was unlikely to cause inheritance issues, people calmed down quickly enough. (I have seen a number of names for Danis's parents, and suspect the whole story has been obscured by the legend surrounding it.) They had a number of children which kept her from making even a visit back to Amray, but when they were mostly grown, she was able to take the trip. Her husband went with her along with trusty servants and their fifteen year old daughter, Danis. She had always been fascinated by the world her mother came from and chose to stay in Amray for a time to learn the skills of the Chief's maidens. After that she took to travelling between the two and facilitated a peace that lasted for over forty years. It was a tacit peace with little trade and interaction born out of it, so it collapsed a few years after her early death.

Physical Description

Apparel & Accessories

It seems that she managed to blend the styles of her two lands together in a beautiful way. She would default to what was familiar to those around her, but let small thing bleed over to showcase the things she loved best about each world.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Raised among the Dlinaat, she fit in well enough, but it seems she always wanted know about her mother's homelands. When at fifteen she visited it, she fell in love with Amrayen culture just as much as she loved the Dlinnat. She became a maiden of the Amrayen High Chief, and despite the prejudice or pity she must have received due to her heritage, she became respected, and was eventually asked to become a cultural ambassador. She orchestrated a treaty between Amray and Dlinnat, which must have been a monumental task even with her father using his influence.

Accomplishments & Achievements

She facilitated a peace between the Amrayens and the Dlinaati that lasted until after her death.

Failures & Embarrassments

Some sources say that at the time of her death, she could see that a lasting peace had not been achieved and sorrowed greatly over this. She had trouble understanding the prejudices that had built up on each side in the short time that the Dlinaat had been in contact, and seemed blind to the lust for more land that has always driven the Dlinaat forward. Even with her interpersonal kills she was unable to break down the fundamental causes of the frequent warring. It is also said that she had difficulties in love. That she could find no man that fully accepted her need to stay in both cultures, and no man that could fit into both worlds.

Intellectual Characteristics

The stories indicate that she was incredibly skilled with people. She had an ability to make them want to listen to her, and a way of cutting through all the difficulties people will bring up if you propose an alliance.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

It seems that she was able to facilitate the peace due to being on of the few rare people who truly loved all of both cultures.
