The religious and cultural significance of color in Northern Leor

Both the Prismatic Desert and the Kalioth put great deals of significance on color and its meaning in their respective cultures, however the ways in which they do it are vastly dfferent. The Prismatic Empire, the Elves in the Edhellen Desert, belive color is ordained of the gods. Specifically the god Nalthis, who they believe is the god of Elves, vibrance, rainbows, and color. They picture Nalthis as a tall elf, who is multicolored, is hard to look at, and constantly has all the colors of the rainbow streaking out of him. Nalthis' domain is in the realm of Arcadia, the first of the Aether, and is completely slate gray, due to Nalthis himself absorbing all the colors. The only spots of color in Arcadia that are not Nalthis himself are his blood and tears. During the Chaos Dawn, Nalthis walked the then-Edhellen Sea, and fought against Asmodeus himself. During this battle, the jungle was destroyed and Nalthis was killed, sacrificing himself for the Elves of the Jungle. his body turned to stone, and became the mountains of Nalthis. His blood became the prismatic crystals, and the elves of the desert mined his crystals for their city. In respect to Nalthis, they wear monotone gray, and the only color in their city is those of the building stones. The elves believe Nalthis created them, and imbued the world with magic and color, although they use the word interchangeably.   The Empire of Kalioth, the Orcs in the Jungle Islands of Kalioth, believe color is a gift from the gods, to be celebrated and shared amongst all aspects of life. Their god is also Nalthis, but they hve a different view of them than the elves do. They see Nalthis as a two headed god, one head female the other male, in the form of an Orc. They believe Nalthis resided in Arborea, and that they, while emitting all spectrums and wavelengths of color, do not absorb the color from around them, rather, she imbues her surroundings with color and that the Glades of Nalthis are shining brightly. they believe, not that the Mountains of Nalthis are Nalthis' body itself, but rather his gift to the world in the form of a material that emits color and light as much as Nalthis does. Orcs, because of what they believe about nalthis, exist as colorfully as they can throughout there cities and tribes. Spices, cloths, clothes, dyes, flowers, candles, the Orcs of Kalioth celebrate color as much as they can. They build temples to Nalthis out of the crystals from the mountains of Kalioth.   History: For hundreds of years, the Orcs of Kalioth and the elves of the desert fought naval wars over the Mountains of Nalthis and their respective beliefs. Then, an orc and an elf, both princes of their respective countries, fell in love, and were able to reconcile their respective believes, and formed a treaty that would allow both nations to harvest crystals and share them, and live in peace. This peace lasted several hundred years, until it was discovered that the elves were sneaking more crystals than was allocated. This sparked another war, one still lasting to this day. The prismatic empire spread propaganda throughout the empire that orcs were less than, dumb brutes, and nothing more than slaves, so any Orcs they could capture they would enslave, which is where Azog was born into. The Prismatic Empire fully captured the Mountains of Nalthis, and would force Orcs to mine the crystals, making them work in horrid conditions. Many orcs would often scrape themselves and cut themselves throughout the day, and their blood would be infused with the colors from the Nalthis crystals. Any elves who saw this would see this as blasphemy and execute any orcs that they caught with Prismatic Ichor, as it was called, but the Orcs saw it as a blessing from Nalthis and their hope to continue on.
