Ithira, the Timeless One

Ithira, The Timeless One   Alignment: True Neutral   Symbol: An hourglass with infinity symbols at both ends   Portfolio: Time, Balance, Eternity, Inevitability   Overview: Ithira is the embodiment of time’s relentless flow, a being beyond mortality who safeguards the delicate balance between what was, what is, and what will be. She is often depicted as a tall, ethereal figure, draped in shimmering robes of silver and gold, her face obscured by an ever-shifting veil of glowing threads that represent the infinite pathways of time. Ithira’s presence is paradoxical—simultaneously distant and intimate, cold yet filled with the warmth of all moments she has witnessed.   Her essence revolves around the cyclical nature of existence, the inevitability of change, and the immutable passage of time. To mortals, she is a being beyond their comprehension, existing outside the normal confines of linear time. Though she is not an active deity in mortal affairs, she influences the course of events subtly, ensuring that balance is maintained and the fabric of reality does not tear apart.   Key Aspects:   Time: Ithira governs the forward march of time, from the ticking of seconds to the progression of epochs. She understands every moment from the beginning to the end of time, yet she does not seek to alter it—her role is to observe and ensure time's flow remains uninterrupted.   Balance: As the arbiter of time’s equilibrium, Ithira manages the balance between creation and destruction, growth and decay, change and stasis. She believes that for everything created, something must fade, and for all progress, there must be loss.   Eternity: Ithira embodies the concept of eternity, the endless loop of existence where every moment is both fleeting and everlasting. She represents the infinite, a reminder that time itself is endless, though mortals only experience it briefly.   Inevitability: The most fearsome aspect of Ithira is her association with inevitability. She is the personification of fate and the certainty that all things must come to pass—be it the rise and fall of kingdoms, the birth and death of stars, or the lives of mortals.   Divine Interaction:   Rituals: Ithira’s followers often perform rituals during significant moments of transition—births, deaths, and great changes in the world. They call upon her to gain insights into the past and future or to ensure balance in their lives.   Festivals: Festivals in her honor are deeply introspective, often marked by quiet reflection. People contemplate the past, present, and future, attempting to understand their place within the grand tapestry of time.   Worship and Followers:   Ithira's followers are scholars, philosophers, mystics, and those who seek to understand the passage of time. Her teachings resonate with those who ponder life's fleeting moments, seeking wisdom in the inevitability of change. Astronomers, historians, and those who work to preserve knowledge often venerate Ithira, understanding that time is both a teacher and a force that shapes the world.   Many warriors also turn to Ithira for guidance in battle strategies, believing that timing and balance are crucial elements to victory.   Her clergy, often called Wardens of Eternity, teach that patience and perspective are paramount. They advise their followers to embrace the passage of time, to learn from the past, and to see the potential of the future. They emphasize that balance in all things, from the cycle of nature to the structure of society, is the key to Ithira's favor.   Holy Sites: The Temple of Timeless Echoes (Aestoria): Located in the capital city, Aestoria, the Temple of Timeless Echoes is one of the most renowned places of worship for Ithira. Built near the Imperial Spire, this temple is a marvel of architecture, featuring enormous hourglass-shaped towers that seem to shift with the passage of light, creating a constant play of shadow and illumination. The temple is a place of reflection, where scholars and priests study the flow of time through ancient arcane devices, observing celestial patterns and recording events of the world. In the inner sanctum, the Eternal Hourglass rests, a relic believed to have been touched by Ithira herself, allowing worshippers to glimpse brief moments of their future.   The Infinite Observatory (Frostspire Mountains): This observatory lies high in the Frostspire Mountains, dedicated to the study of the stars and time. Scholars from across Qal'dranis journey here to study the heavens and meditate on the flow of time. The Chronos Eye, a sacred hourglass that is said to show glimpses of past, present, and future, resides in this site, revealing the wisdom of Ithira.   Mythology: Ithira is said to have been present at the birth of the cosmos, observing its first pulse of life alongside Aesiron, the God of Creation. While Aesiron crafted the material world, Ithira wove the threads of time, ensuring that every event would occur in its proper sequence. Together, they represent creation and continuity, two forces that shape all of existence.   According to myth, it was Ithira who set the Veil in motion, ensuring that time flowed separately between the gods and mortals, so as not to break the balance between realms. It is said that her knowledge of time extends beyond even the gods, and she has seen the fates of all things, though she rarely reveals what she knows.
