Article XVI: Religious Law in the Eastern Steppes
§16.1: The Spirit Tribes and Ancestral Worship
The Eastern Steppes follow a decentralized system of ancestral and spirit worship, with each tribe honoring its own pantheon of spirits, ancestors, and totems. The Romira Family, however, recognizes and encourages the worship of a shared pantheon of warrior spirits that protect the land and its people.
§16.2: Tribal Shamans and Oracles
Tribal Shamans act as spiritual leaders and mediators between the physical and spiritual worlds. They possess the authority to resolve disputes, perform rituals, and invoke the spirits for guidance. The Romira Family grants them immunity from all civil laws, recognizing their vital role in maintaining harmony.
§16.3: The Oath of the Ancestors
All contracts, agreements, and vows made within the Eastern Steppes are sworn upon the Oath of the Ancestors, a sacred promise that binds the individual’s soul to their word. Breaking this oath is considered the gravest offense, resulting in ostracism from one's tribe and forfeiture of all property and rights.
§16.4: Tolerance of Foreign Faiths
The tribes of the Eastern Steppes are known for their tolerance of foreign travelers and their beliefs, provided they show respect for local traditions and offer a tribute to the local spirits. Any who defy these customs are banished, their names spoken only as a warning to others.
