The Everlasting Rime begins, all of Icewind Dale is engulfed in a frigid blizzard of constant cold with no end or break in sight. Some say it is due to the downcast Goddess of Winter, Auriel, who they see at night flying overhead creating the Everlasting Rime.
The Goliaths and Giants of Icewind Dale attacked the people of Ten Towns following orders of Giants who said they escaped from the Underdark, but were really followers of Asmodeus quenching the plans of the rebellious Levistus.
Duergar, Drow, Slaad, and Myconid people start settling in Icewind Dale, offering to help the rebuild after the Giant War and attack of the Chardalyn Dragon. Because of the Underdark peoples generosity, they are accepted into the community of Icewind Dale.
