Dragonborn

Dragonborn are a race of noble and powerful beings, whose origins are steeped in ancient lore and mystical ties to dragons.  Dragonborn are humanoid creatures with distinct draconic features that set them apart from other races.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their scales can range in color from metallic hues like gold, silver, and bronze to chromatic colors such as red, blue, green, or black. These scales cover their bodies, providing natural armor and varying in texture from smooth to slightly rough.  They are muscular and agile, often standing taller than humans with a strong, robust physique. Their hands and feet are clawed, capable of gripping and slashing with ease.  Dragonborn have elongated faces with pronounced jaws and teeth, resembling the visage of a dragon. Their eyes are typically vibrant and can range from bright yellow to deep crimson, reflecting their draconic heritage.

Biological Traits

Dragonborn inherit magical abilities and traits from their dragon ancestors. These can manifest as breath weapons, such as fire, frost, lightning, or acid, which they can unleash in combat or ritualistic settings.  Their scales provide natural armor, offering resistance to physical attacks. They are also known for their endurance and stamina, able to withstand harsh environments that would challenge other races.  Dragonborn can adapt to various climates and terrains, reflecting their diverse ancestral connections to different types of dragons (metallic or chromatic). This adaptability has allowed them to thrive in a wide range of environments across Eldarion.

Behaviour

Dragonborn society values honor, courage, and loyalty. They uphold a strong sense of personal integrity and respect for their lineage, often tracing their ancestry back to ancient dragons.  They organize themselves into clans or familial groups, each tracing its lineage to a revered dragon ancestor. Clan bonds are sacred, and Dragonborn prioritize the welfare and reputation of their kin.  Known for their craftsmanship, Dragonborn excel in metalworking, crafting intricate armor, weapons, and jewelry adorned with draconic motifs and symbols. They also have a deep appreciation for music and storytelling, often weaving tales of heroic deeds and ancient dragon lore.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Due to their strength, intelligence, and innate magical abilities, Dragonborn often assume leadership roles within their clans or communities. They are natural protectors, defending their territories from external threats and preserving the natural balance of Eldarion.   Beyond their martial prowess, Dragonborn are skilled diplomats and negotiators, able to forge alliances with other races and druidic circles. They value peace and cooperation but are formidable adversaries when provoked.

Common Myths and Legends

Dragonborn often venerate dragons as divine beings or revered ancestors, practicing rituals that honor dragon spirits and seek their blessings. They may also worship elemental spirits and deities associated with natural forces, aligning their beliefs with the mystical energies that permeate Eldarion.
