The Dawn War was a great war fought between the Primordials and the Elder Gods and gods, for ultimate control over the cosmos. The gods prevailed, imprisoning or destroying their Primordial enemies, and deposing the Elder Gods.
The history of Elatia, with a focus on Alagaësia.
The period before recorded history, spanning an estimated age of millions, if not billions, of years. Ao, the Elder God, and Overgod of creation, created the Crystal Sphere which contains the Elatian solar system, and all life within, after which followed two distinct periods, that historians have surmised; the Blue Age and the Shadow Epoch. It was over these periods that a great conflict, known as the Dawn War, or the First War, arose, pitting the gods and Elder Gods against the Primordials. At some time before the Blue Age, the elder goddess Elata, and the elder god Ard made the planet Elatia-Arda to represent their eternal love for one another.
The Dawn War was a great war fought between the Primordials and the Elder Gods and gods, for ultimate control over the cosmos. The gods prevailed, imprisoning or destroying their Primordial enemies, and deposing the Elder Gods.
The Days of Thunder was an ancient period of Elatia's history. This was the time of the fabled creator races, or Iqua-Tel'Quessir in the elven tongue, and many other races still hid in caves. The era began when the majority of the glaciers left by the cooling of Elatia-Arda's ocean during the Shadow Epoch finally revealed a supercontinent that would eventually be called Eldaria. Life bloomed on this landmass in the form of the creator races and the ancient ape-like ancestors of humans.
Empires of the Sarrukh, a sauroid creator race, arose around 35 000 BDR - the first of the creator races to establish empires. The first was the realm of Okoth, which came to dominate much of the land that would be Faerûn, Yuan-Ho and a large portion of Tamriel, over the next century.
Around 34 800 BDR, the sarrukh empire of Mhairshaulk was founded on the land that is now Lothia and Gnollia, with a little of southern Draconia.
Around 34 100 BDR, Okoth fell after a century of civil unrest that caused many sarrukh to travel into the planes.
The Fey, another creator race, establish the realm of Faerie, also known as the Feywild around 34 000 BDR.
Around 34 000 BDR, the sarrukh founded the Ba'etith, the purpose of the which was to study the primitive forms of magic utilized by the various races
The Batrachi were an amphibious race who evolved in the seas, their growth mirroring the sarrukh on land. When they became amphibious, they moved onto the land and supplanted the dinosauroids. The Batrachi Empires rose to power circa 33 500 BDR. They out-competed the rising power of the yuan-ti of Mhairshaulk, ensuring they would never achieve the heights of their creators, the sarrukh. At the height of their power, the Batrachi were the dominant creator race, with their empires spanning Middle Earth to Faerûn.
Around 33 500 BDR, the sarrukh empire of Mhairshaulk began its decline, its coverage reducing to what is now Yuan-Ho, and some of the surrounding lands, which it had acquired after the fall of Okoth. The nation became the preserve of the yuan-ti.
Around 31 000 BDR, the Batrachi were losing a war against the titans and desperately enacted a great summoning ritual that unleashed several once-imprisoned primordials. The gods swiftly opposed the primordials. The primordial Asgorath, the World Shaper, even hurled an ice moon or comet at the planet, in order to destroy what she could not have, in an event called the Tearfall. Disastrous earthquakes, fires, and windstorms swept across all of Elatia-Arda, erasing whole continents and rearranging the seas. Ancient sarrukh legends made cryptic mention of the "changing of the stars". But, before the world was destroyed, Ao, the elder god of creation, split it into two twin worlds: Arda for the primordials and Elatia for the gods. Arda was then placed into a pocket dimension located in the exact place of Elatia. At around this time, the first dragons eggs hatched all over Elatia, numbering in the tens of thousands. These were linked to a rain of meteors that fell to Merrouroboros; at least, the first dragons appeared shortly thereafter. The extreme climate change swiftly led to the end of batrachi civilization. After a cold period called "the seven-turn winter", many batrachi left Elatia for the plane of Limbo. Meanwhile, in the seas, the amphibioids appear to have faced pressure from merfolk, sahuagin, and tritons. Their society degenerated and collapsed back into barbarism.
The Aearee rose to prominence circa 31 000 BDR, around the time of the Tearfall. They established the Aearee Empires across Merrouroboros, and built a few grand aeries. The Aearee-Krocaa founded Viakoo in the Misty Mountains in the west, the Aearee-Syran founded Phwiukree in the White Fang Mountains in the north, and the Aearee-Quor founded Shara in the Hammerfell Mountains. The rise of these empires (along with those of the batrachi) prevented the yuan-ti from fully claiming the power the sarrukh empires held before their fall.
Around 30 700 BDR, a number of Lammasu (beasts similar to sphinxes) defeated a much larger force of Aearee-Krocaa, killing one thousand. The aearee later experimented on domesticated landwyrms to create winged wyrms, or wyverns. Supported by wyvern forces, the Aearee-Krocaa empire commenced a rapid expansion.
Around 30 400 BDR, the gnolls of Urgnarash battled the aearee of Kookrui-Shara. Gnoll shamans, following Yeenoghu, summoned marrashi to spread disease among the aearee. Aearee crops were blighted, and the aearee suffered the Wasting Plague. The Aearee-Quor were decimated, and many of them began worshiping the demon lord Pazrael to seek salvation.
The Dawn Age, also known as the Age of Dawn, the Time of Dragons, or the Time of Giants, was a period when the powerful empires of the creator races disappeared from the face of Elatia and their land was occupied by giants and dragons far more powerful than those of the Present Age. It was a time of constant war for land in Merrouroboros, that led to the creation of great kingdoms and empires.
Around 30 000 BDR, dragons all over Merrouroboros gathered in the first Flight of Dragons to assault the aearee in the sky, on land, and underground. The Aearee Empires fell, as Viakoo was burned from the air and Shara was conquered by the dragon-general Nagamat. Following this, the remaining aearee fled beyond western seas. Essentially nothing is known of their history after that point except that they eventually created or devolved into the aarakocra.
Annam All-Father, god of the giants, and Othea, a lesser demigoddess of Elatia, marry and have eight terrestrial children. Annam founds Ostoria in their honor. This marks the beginning of the Time of Giants.
The Dragonfall War begins when followers of Xymor kill Nagamat, sparking the war between the followers of Bahamut and Tiamat which continues unabated in the present day. Tiamat began to breed aberrant creatures known as of the Spawn of Tiamat, and unleashed them on the followers of Bahamut. To counter them, Bahamut created the dragonborn to act as his soldiers and knights.
The Draco Holy Wars were a series of civil wars fought among dragonkind during the Time of Dragons over philosophical differences between the different religious dogmas of the draconic pantheon. The dragons of the time were devout followers of their gods, and such devotion sparked intense wars among them. These wars were fought not only between different species but also within species as well.
In circa 28 000 BDR, Ostoria reached the peak of its power, beginning the age known as the "Reign of Giants". The kingdom covered most of Tamriel and Draconia.
Trying to undermine dragon rule, the Fey opened planar gates to allow the first elves to immigrate to Elatia. Although most elves were content to remain in small scattered tribes, one group of green elves known as the Ilythiiri negotiated with dragons to allow them to carve out a small kingdom in the east of what is now Middle Earth.
An avatar of Garyx, the chaotic evil dragon god of fire, led red dragons to invade Ostoria. Eventually all of dragonkind was drawn into the conflict.
Draconic philosophers came to the conclusion that religious fighting was wasteful and that gods who allowed such behavior were not worthy of their worship. This started the dragon's apathy toward their gods, which lasted for thousands of years. Due to this, it was speculated that several members of the original draconic pantheon just died due to the lack of worship.
Elf survivors of the Kingdom of Tintageer (a realm of Faerie) summon the power of elvish High Magic and escape from Faerie to Elatia, and found the first elven nation on Merrouroboros, known as Greenwood (later Mirkwood).
Ostoria reaches a truce with dragonkind and the Reign of Giants comes to an end. Ostoria has shrunk to only a shadow of its former self. The Colossal Kingdom now occupies only the northernmost edge of Tamriel.
Elves created the High Magic effect known as Dracorage mythal in a citadel in the northernmost reaches of Elatia, tying it to the appearance of the King-Killer Star, a red comet. This powerful magic incited dragons across Merrouroboros to madness and mindless destruction, turning them against each other and even against their offspring. While the effects of this rage only lasts for 10-60 days, it is incited every time the comet reappears.
The great wyrms of the southern lands continuously assault the cities of Mhairshaulk, causing the yuan-ti realm to fall.
Desperate, a few of the remaining dragon lords try to destroy the Dracorage mythal. Brave avariel defenders sacrifice their lives to protect it, and the dragons are unable to stop the magic fueling the Rage. The avariel race is almost wiped out during this battle.
At the start of this period, the elves had split into five major realms: Greenwood (wood elves), Lothlorien (high elves), Rivendell (moon elves), Morrowind (dark elves) and Valenwood (green/wild elves). They, and a number of smaller elven realms, continued to spread throughout this period, cementing the elves as the dominant race.
The High Magi, practicers of High Magic, desire to create an idealic elven homeland. They gathered in what will be Orsinia, and began to cast the days-long ritual. As the Day of Birthing dawned, 10 days after the ritual had commenced, it reached its peak. All but one of the Magi had their life forces torn from their bodies. The survivor, an elven woman known only as Starleaf, watched as the coast of Merrouroboros was destroyed by tremendous earthquakes and floods. Hundreds of elven settlements were wiped out, and others were changed forever. But the original goal was achieved: a place for the good elves of Merrouroboros was created and the island now known as the Undying Lands rose from the depths of the sea. When the casting was done, Starleaf awoke at the Undying Lands and met there the gods Corellon Larethian and Angharradh. Both revealed that the elves had succeeded with their help. That also meant that the elves were not the only ones to be blamed for the destruction wrought on Merrouroboros. Starleaf was the first of the noble Eladrin to inhabit the island, which became a place for elves to travel to when they wish to retire from life. As a result of the casting, Merrouroboros was sundered into 4 main continents, being Whitrinh, Archeron, Prythian and Mundas. The elves renamed this new formation Alagaësia, meaning "fertile land", to signify that the land was theirs to sow.
The Crown Wars were a series of elven wars fought early in the history of Alagaësia. Over a period of 3,000 years, the great elven kingdoms participated in five primary conflicts, leading to the near destruction of the elven race.
In 14 700 BDR, small skirmishes began to break out between th wood elves of Greenwood and the high elves of Lothlorien over border disputes. After centuries of tension, all out war broke out when Greenwood invades Lothlorien. The conflict experienced brief periods of peace, but eventually concluded with both species of elf coming to a rocky treaty in 11647 BDR. Such had their numbers dwindled that fighting was no longer viable. They each retreated to their much smaller borders (though still larger than they are today).
The dark elves of Morrowind cross the Sea of Plenty to attack the moon elves of Rivendell, driving them further north, away from what is now dwarven and halfling land. This violated a treaty between them forged 400 years before and led to the dark elves earning the epithet dhaerow, meaning "traitor". During the following 1200 years of conflict, Lolth took the opportunity to seduce the ruling families and powers in the dark elf kingdom further towards evil, assisted by a fiendish balor named Wendonai.
Shocked by the betrayal of the dark elves, and moved by the plight of their moon elf allies, who were now enslaved by their dark brethren, the wild elves of Valenwood rise up against Morrowind, directly attacking their borders, and forcing them to retreat from moon elf land, and return to their own. The dark elves are mostly wiped out and forced to retreat into the Underdark. Eventually, the epithet dhaerow would change into drow.
A segment of wild elves splits from Valenwood, to create their own continent with their own rule. They wished to enable greater use of the environment and disagreed with the politics of the time. The ensuing war lasted 200 years and resulted in the creation of Faerun.
Aldmeri, a small series of islands far off the mainland of Mundas, and home to a divergent group of high elves, conducts a large-scale invasion on the elves of what is now Middle Earth, using Archeron as a staging ground. Lead by Melkor (later the master of Sauron), they aimed to expand their rule across much of this portion of Mundas, as they believed themselves to be superior to all elves. The Aldmeri were aided by some of the evil gods of the Dark Seldarine pantheon, and so, members of the Seldarine joined the battle on the side of the defending elves of Mundas. The resulting clash in powers, and the deaths of a few gods on both sides, turned the landmass that is now Mordor into a volcanic, unstable wasteland full of wild magic. The Aldmeri were all but destroyed and retreated back to their lands at the end of the conflict in 9000 BDR.
During this period, the elves try and rebuild their numbers, but are significantly weakened, allowing for the once less-dominant races to begin their expansion. The borders of Lothlorien, Morrowind, Valenwood, Mirkwood, Rivendell and Faerun very closely resemble their modern-day iterations. Mundus is divided further, into Middle Earth (dwarves and elves dominant), Tamriel (elf dominant), the Contested North (now Homia), the South, and Targaz (dwarf dominant). Human tribes also begin expansion, founding small states in Tamriel, the North and South, and in Middle Earth.
Moloch, an archdevil who served as Baalzebul’s viceroy in Malbolge, the 6th Layer of the Nine Hells, betrays Baalzebul and Asmodeus, and is exiled to the Material Plane by Malagard, the Hag Countess and second consort of Moloch. Lilith, first consort of Moloch, is angered by Malagard’s role in convincing Moloch to betray his masters, and that she was installed as ruler of Malboge instead of herself. She rediscovers the lost Book of Keeping, a magical tome which contains the true names of most of the yugoloth race of fiends. With the tome, Lilith gathers a vast army, and her military might and promise of overthrowing the gods sways a number of demons and devils, further increasing her army’s strength. At some point, Lilith comes into contact with the Chained Oblivion – creator of the Abyss and long ago banished to a different universe by the gods – and invites him into Elatia. With the help of the Chained Oblivion, Lilith and her army lay siege to the gods, decimating many of the other, far off continents of the world. The battle spilled over into Alagaësia, resulting in the deaths of many.
At 6pm on the 6th of Kythorn (6th month), during a night that Selûne (the moon) was at its fullest, it suddenly underwent a drastic and inexplicable change. Its light dulled, and it took on a reddish hue. During this night, monsters seemed to be more active and powerful, and so it was a night of bloodshed. The next night, it had returned to its normal appearance. This event occurs seemingly at random, and for different lengths of time, though it is believed that it foreshadows the coming of a horrific event, and that the longer it is seen before the event takes place, the worse it will be. Coupled with its effect on monsters, and that sometimes, strange phenomena has occurred under its light (such as rivers flowing backwards) it has been given the name Rudius, or the Blood Moon. It is a bad omen, and the subject of superstition throughout Elatia.
Just when victory seemed assured, the weakened gods enlisted the aid of four of the most powerful individuals in Alagaësia; Helaina Everfire – a master sorceress (known to be the Blood Queen, human), Jeras Ennamanis-Uskeche – a wise wizard [last name translates to Dawn-wight/ghost from elvish] (known to be Jeras Dawnwight, half-elf), Kirim Warforge – a magical smithy (dwarf) and Thoteus [pronounced thot-teus]. Together, they managed to summon and trap the Chained Oblivion's “son” (essentially an eldritch being he created from his own essence to give him company in his loneliness), Vhadro, using a powerful artefact known as the Covenant of Bahamut, a simple golden box engraved with the symbol of a shield sporting a dragon’s head, that glows faintly with blue light. Bahamut, dragon god of justice, gave up his life to forge the artefact. The Covenant was then used to place Vhadro in an eternal slumber beneath the earth, simultaneously fragmenting his essence further so that he may never awake. These fragments were collected in newly created purple crystals known as Wyrdstones. By doing so, the Chained Oblivion was significantly weakened, as he no longer had access to the great amount of power stored within his “son”, referred to as Vahdro. Four Divine Trammels (javelin-sized spikes of platinum imbued with a fragment, or “bead” of divinity) were forged by Moradin, dwarven god of creation and crafts, with Ilmater, Torm, Tyr and Selune each giving a shred of their divinity for their creation. These Trammels were then attached to the Chained Oblivion, momentarily containing him. The Covenant of Bahamut was once more used by the god, Gond, to create divine chains to imprison the Chained Oblivion in the Abyss, with each chain’s source of power originating from an unknown point in Alagaësia. Though her powerful ally was subdued, Lilith still posed a great threat, having injected all but three of the Wyrdstones into her body, allowing her to absorb Vhadro’s power. With the gods too weak from the fighting and banishment of the Chained Oblivion, or unwilling to face her, Lilith, on her fearsome dragon mount, Argid, brings about the Days of Darkness, denying the first light of the beginning of 3991 BDR, with the final forces of Alagaësia submitting to her rule.
For the majority of the year, Lilith – referred to by the subjugated races as the Demon Queen due to the vast majority of her forces consisting of demons – rules with an iron grip, her demons and devils raping and pillaging as they pleased. Many of the elves went into hiding, either going underground, or finding ways to travel to the Feywild – most never to return. In secret, Kirim Warforge creates the first of the Warforged race, with the help of his companions. With their combined knowledge and powers, they create a warded vault, in what was Orsinia, protected also by the warforged guardians, to safeguard the three remaining Wyrdstones containing Vahdro’s essence. In the process, they discover a means to tear out parts of a creature’s essence and imbue a desired object with it, thus the living nature of the warforged. And also, they discovered a way to create their own Wyrdstones. With this new knowledge, they spread rumours of a hidden underground resistance base, that plotted to overthrow the Demon Queen. Then, they devised a trap. News soon reached the Demon Queen, and she rode in on her dragon to what is now just outside of Lothal. However, upon landing, a great light flashes, and she only just manages to fly off Argid before he is encased in purple crystal. Before she could break him out, and she would have easily been able to do so, the heroes jump out of hiding, and begin casting the first Rites of Sealing. For this, they have chosen to split Lilith’s essence into three objects: a chalice, a golden statuette, and a black crown. It seemed to be going well, with the Demon Queen immobilised under the effects of the casting. They used the Covenant of Bahamut to power the ritual. This time, a bead of divinity was taken from 6 different domains to give the Rites strength and permanence. Light – Apollo Order – Tyr Arcana – Mystra Knowledge – Asmodeus (who wished to retake control of the Nine Hells) Life – Selune Death – Shar (who snuck her own bead of power into the ritual, thus corrupting the ritual). However, Thoteus’ concentration is momentarily broken, and the ritual is altered slightly. Though the casting is completed and successful, with the statuette holding the strength of Lilith's body, the chalice, the power of her voice, and the crown, the power of her magic, and that which comes from her status as the Demon Queen, a forth seal is unintentionally made. Together, they formed the Seals of the Succubus. The gods descend from the heavens, congratulating the heroes. They cast the Demon Queen’s dying form into the Abyss and sunk the crystalised dragon into the ground. The heroes were given immortality, and charged with guarding the Seals with their lives. It is known that Helaina settled in Lothia as the Blood Queen, and Jeras put his Seal in a tomb near the Imperial Capital. It is unknown who placed the Crown Seal in Draconia. Without a master, the demons and devils fled back to the Nine Hells and Abyss, and the ugoloth's disappeared. It is believed that 2 thirds of Alagaësia's population was wiped out or fled to other planes during this time. That is an estimated 120-130 million (current known Alagaësia population (1416 DR) is 150 million).
The appearance of the Tears of Selûne, an asteroid cluster visible from the surface of Elatia as following the moon Selûne in its orbit around the planet. An astronomer from Shou Lung (what is now Chai Nar) called Tu Pi Chei reported seeing many objects "pop" into existence. Soon, all of Elatia’s oceans were wracked by massive tidal waves. The Emperor of Shou Lung was informed and the next night he too looked at the sky and saw the new objects. Twenty astrologers were tasked with determining their meaning. Most said that Shou Lung would expand inland, some said that a member of the emperor's family would soon die, one claimed that the emperor himself would become pregnant (that astrologer was immediately put to death). Shou Lung did indeed expand inland soon after, becoming one of the largest empires in the North. The emperor's wife also died in childbirth later that year. By 1357 DR, the true nature of these bright bodies was finally revealed. Despite all the legends as to their formation, the truth was that the Tears were the result of a magic-fuelled weapon created by dragonkind to destroy the King-Killer Star, but when they fired it, the weapon missed and hit Selûne instead.
This period saw the decline of the elven and dwarven empires, and the flourishing of the human empires.
Dragonborn begin migrating into the desert. They begin to build their cities, renaming the state Draconia.
Lord Elendil the Tall, a young human male, and his band of knights, establish the kingdom of Gondor.
After hundreds of years of preparation, Sauron, a fallen solar follower of Melkor, finally reveals himself to the denizens of Middle Earth. The War for Middle Earth Begins.
Human tribes expand further in the North, renaming it Homia. They live in peace with one another, and the races that also call the continent home.
The elves in Tamriel begin to withdraw their borders further, no longer having the numbers to control such a large territory. Human tribes begin flooding in.
The race of Men begin expanding into Elven territory in Faerun, forming small colonies.
Tensions arise between the two races as border disputes become frequet. The disagreements escalate with the murder of an Elven negotiation party, there to discuss territory changes. This results in a bloody war.
Sauron falls at Isildur’s hand. Middle Earth is once again at peace.
The Age of Heroes begins, with Tiber Septim leading the 12 Companions against a Mind Flayer invasion on the fledgling city of Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil is renamed the Imperial City, with Tiber Septim as its first emperor. So begins the human-born Tamrielic Empire.
Maximus Farquaad unites the human settlements of the South beneath his rule, creating the kingdom of Duloc, with him as Lord.
Collapse of Duloc/Death of Farquaad. Shrek kills Lord Farquaad, ruler of Duloc. The state descends into chaos.
Lilith, in a desperate ploy to unleash the Chained Oblivion once more, invades Orsinia with a small handful of loyal cultists. She also manages to convince the god Cyric, at the behest of the goddess Shar, to join her. She sought the Covenant of Bahamut, so that she may break the chains entrapping the Chained Oblivion, and begin the long road to her gaining her full might once more. Mystra, the goddess of magic, was, at the time, residing in the capital, Orsina, under the guise of its ruler, the Apothean, so that she may protect the Convenant. Lilith’s secondary objective was to kill Mystra, thereby destroying the weave and breaking magic, in the hopes that she might disrupt the wards protected the Seals vaults. Lilith and her allies manage to infiltrate Orsini, systematically taking out each warforged guardian, though the remaining three proved most powerful. Their defeat was costly, as Mystra was alerted to their presence. In the ensuing battle, Mystra is backstabbed by a hidden Cyric. As she lay dying, she called for the aid of the gods, some of whom answered. In a blind rage, the gods attacked everything in sight, uncaring as to who the real culprits were. Much of the Empire of Orsinia is destroyed, and thousands slain, including a majority of Alagaësia's heroes, as a feast of celebration was being held there. Still, some of the city remained standing, as did many of its citizens. However, Cyric deals the final blow to Mystra, and the weave collapses. Lilith barely makes it out of Orsina with her life, before it is engulfed in a fiery blue explosion of flame. The destroyed city sinks beneath the ocean, and the surrounding lands are rendered desolate wastelands. Much of Alagaësia’s climate and biomes are thrown out of whack, creating impossible situations, such as tropical rainforests bordering temperate forests or grasslands. Some of the coastlines of the continents are altered, and the tremors brings forth a ring of volcanoes from the ocean, now known as the Devil’s Ring. Additionally, magic became dangerously unpredictable and many charged magical items (impermanent magic items) were either destroyed, warped, or simply ceased to function. The effects on magic, and the blue fire are known as the Spellplague. Overall, this event is known as the Great Calamity. It is not known why the gods reacted in this way, as this is not the first time a version of Mystra has been slain. Scholars suspect a more sinister reason is yet to be uncovered. SELÛNE, the moon, took on its reddish, dulled form (Blood Moon/Ruidus) in the weeks leading up to the event, and burst into red light for months afterwards, before returning to normal. Unbeknownst to most, Mystra managed to survive Cyric's attacks, and, mortally wounded, teleported to Orsina's sister city, Cael Morrow, with the last of the teleportation station's power. There, she faced the orc god Gruumsh, who waited to take his vengeance on the goddess and her Empire for the years of war and oppression the orc tribes of the north faced under her rule. The gods fought fiercely, but Mystra could feel something else beyond the weakening of her body from the wounds she had sustained. Her very essence felt as if it was being corrupted. She hesitated, and Gruumsh struck. Barely, she was able to deflect the attack, but the full force of Gruumsh sent her and the city plummeting deep beneath the earth, even as the world around burned in blue fire, and the dirt and forests became desert. The Apothean - Mystra - was lost that day.
Weeks before the fall of the Empire of Archeron, a simple scientist by the name of Oberon roamed the lands of the empire, stopping at each city to warn them of a horrible plague that he would unleash upon the land if he was not crowned Emperor, as was his claimed 'birthright'. Dismissive of the claims of an apparent madman, the rulers of Archeron denied him. Soon after, the land to the western tip of the empire began to change; the earth became grey and muddy, and the flora was twisted into nightmarish forms. Those citizens who did not die to this blight were transformed into disgusting creatures with only the instinct to kill and devour to drive them forward. Man-made stuctures that were met with this blight immediately began to crumble, as if aged many centuries. It is estimated that 15 million of Archeron's original 65 million population managed to flee to the east, with the rest either dying or transformed. Magic has managed to slow this disease, dubbed the Grey Death, to a slow crawl, though it expands ever further, desiring to cover the world. Over these newly named Blighted Lands, the scientist Oberon rules, shedding his human disguise and revealing himself as an ancient red dragon, proclaiming himself "Dragon King".
The Genasi, tired of being treated as second-rate citizens, almost no better than slaves, conducted a mass exodus from Lothia and Tamriel. Laurel Silverhand, ruler of Faerun, gave them an island off her country's east coast, dubbed Genas, where the Genasi could live under their own rule.
Helaina Everfire, under the guise of the Blood Queen, estblishes the kingdom of Lothia in the remains the Duloc state. She builds a large capital, to hide the vault beneath which contains the Chalice Seal, locked in a Beholder lair.
A new Mystra ascends to godhood, restoring the Weave and ending the Spellplague. However, magic is significantly weaker than what it once was.
Proskan Warlords (warlords from Prosk, in Homia) attempt to take Chai Nar – they are currently besieging the Great Wall of Chai Nar.
19th Alturiak (February) – the events of the Seals of the Succubus Campaign begin when Flare and his merry group of mercenaries, along with Thalia Nightingale, retrieve the golden statuette Seal from a tomb in Cyrodiil, Tamriel, for Jeras Dawnwight. At some point, Thalia makes off with the statuette, but not before Jeras is able to syphon some of its power for himself.
