Field Medic

In the heat of battle, wounds are inevitable, but a true warrior knows that survival is just as important as victory. The field medic is a master of battlefield triage, keeping their allies in the fight with swift medical expertise and tactical positioning. Whether a hardened veteran who has seen too many comrades fall or a soldier trained to patch wounds between engagements, the field medic embodies resilience and duty.   Unlike clerics or paladins who call upon divine magic, the field medic relies on practical knowledge, quick thinking, and honed techniques to stabilize the wounded and turn the tide of battle. These warriors are not just healers; they are frontline combatants who can mend wounds mid-fight and create opportunities for their allies to press the attack.

Field Medic Exploits

3rd-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   You learn certain Exploits at the Fighter levels noted in the table below. They don't count against your total number of Exploits known and can't be switched upon gaining a level.

Battlefield Healer

3rd-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   Your extensive medical knowledge allows you to quickly mend wounds. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Second Wind to restore hit points to a creature you touch equal to 1d10 + your Fighter level. If the creature is at 0 hit points, this healing is maximized. Additionally, you can attempt a Medicine check to stabilize a creature as a free action once per turn. Alternatively, you can use a Healer's Kit as a bonus action rather than an action.

Tactical Triage

3rd-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   You gain proficiency in Medicine if you don’t already have it, or Expertise if you are already proficient in Medicine. Additionally, you gain the Healer feat, and when you use it to stabilize a creature, that creature regains an additional number of hit points equal to your Medicine score.   For example, as a 3rd-Level fighter with a Wisdom score of 16, you would add 7 to the hit points gained, for a total of 8, or 9 for a total of 11 if you have Expertise in Medicine.   If you later take the Savior feat, these hit points are in addition to those rolled for that feat.

Mend Wounds

3rd-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   When you take a short rest, you can choose up to six creatures who spend at least 1 hit die to regain hit points. Each creature who gained hit points in this way gains additional hit points equal to 1d6 + your Wisdom modifier.

Rapid Intervention

7th-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   When a creature you can see within 10 feet of you falls to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to move up to your speed towards them. If you end this movement adjacent to that creature, you can immediately use your Battlefield Healer feature to attempt to stabilize or to heal that creature. If the target regains at least 1 hit point in this way, you can make one weapon attack against an adjacent creature as part of this reaction.

Resilient Care

10th-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   When you heal an ally using your Battlefield Healer feature, they gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks until the start of your next turn. Additionally, whenever you use your Second Wind, you regain an additional 1d10 hit points, whether you use it to heal yourself or another creature.

Enduring Guardian

15th-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   Your battlefield expertise allows you to keep allies alive through sheer skill and rapid intervention. When an ally within your reach would fail a death saving throw, you can use your reaction to stabilize them instead.   Additionally, when you use a Healer's Kit on a creature with 0 hit points, they do not gain a level of Exhaustion. A creature cannot benefit from this ability again until they finish a long rest.

Legendary Field Medic

18th-Level Fighter (Field Medic) Feature   Your skills have reached legendary status, allowing you to defy death itself. When you use your Battlefield Healer feature on a creature that has died within the last round, that creature is restored to 1 hit point instead of being stabilized. Additionally, when you use Second Wind, you can touch up to three other creatures. Each of these creatures gain the same number of hit points as you.
