Academy of Siegemasters

Warlords trained in the Academy of Siegemasters are experts in prolonged warfare, breaking enemy fortifications, and leading assaults on entrenched positions. Masters of battlefield engineering, logistics, and overwhelming firepower, these Warlords are just as comfortable commanding siege engines as they are directing warriors in the field.  

Siegecraft Mastery

3rd-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   You gain proficiency with carpenter’s tools and mason’s tools, and whenever you make an Intelligence (Investigation) or Intelligence (History) check related to fortifications, siege weaponry, or battlefield engineering, you can treat a roll of 7 or lower on the d20 as an 8.   Additionally, you deal double damage to objects and structures with weapon attacks.  

Siege Exploits

3rd-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   You learn certain Exploits at the Warlord levels noted in the table below. They do not count against your total number of Exploits Known and cannot be switched upon gaining a level.

Siege Engineer

3rd-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   You can operate and command siege engines with expert precision. While you are within 5 feet of a siege engine, you can operate it as if you had proficiency in its use. Additionally, siege engines you control gain the following benefits:  
  • Their range increases by 50%.
  • They deal additional damage equal to one roll of your Exploit Die.
  • Loading times are reduced by half (minimum of 1 bonus action).
  • Breach the Walls

    6th-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   When you hit a creature or object with a melee or ranged weapon attack, you can expend one Exploit Die to weaken its defenses. The first attack made against that target before the start of your next turn is made with advantage, and on a hit, it deals additional damage equal to one roll of your Exploit Die.   Additionally, structures and objects you attack automatically suffer maximum damage from your weapon attacks if they are non-magical.  

    Coordinated Bombardment

    14th-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   You can direct devastating barrages against your foes. As a bonus action, you can expend two Exploit Dice to command all creatures of your choice within 30 feet to focus their attacks on a single enemy. Until the start of your next turn, the first attack made by each affected creature against the chosen target deals additional damage equal to one roll of your Exploit Die.   Additionally, when you or an ally deal damage to an object or structure, you can use your reaction to double the damage dealt.  

    Master of Sieges

    18th-level Warlord (Academy of Siegemasters) Feature   You have mastered the art of prolonged warfare and siegecraft. You gain the following benefits:  
  • You and creatures of your choice within 30 feet ignore difficult terrain caused by rubble, broken fortifications, or natural battlefield hazards.
  • When you take a short or long rest, you can fortify an area up to a 30-foot radius, granting yourself and allies within the area half cover.
  • If you spend at least 1 minute assessing a structure, you instantly learn its weaknesses and the fastest method to bring it down.
  • You can use Coordinated Bombardment twice per short or long rest without expending an Exploit Die.
