These commanders are battle-priests in their own right, wielding the power of conviction and divine miracles to keep their warriors standing against impossible odds. With unwavering faith, they turn the battlefield into a holy warzone where the righteous shall prevail.
Restriction: Divine
You must follow a deity to take this subclass. If you fall out of favor with your deity, you lose the features of this subclass until you return to their, or another deity's, favor. When you take this subclass, if your Piety is less than 3, it becomes 3.
Sacred Crusader
3rd-Level Warlord (Academy of Crusaders) Feature
You are a chosen leader in the service of divine righteousness. You gain proficiency in Religion and martial weapons, and you learn the Thaumaturgy cantrip.
Additionally, when you make a Charisma (Persuasion) or Charisma (Intimidation) check against a creature of an
opposed alignment to your own, you can add your Leadership modifier to the roll.
Lastly, when you use your Inspiring Word, you can choose to restore hit points to the target rather than granting temporary hit points.
Crusader's Exploits

You learn certain Exploits at the Warlord levels noted in the table below. They do not count against your total number of Exploits Known and cannot be switched upon gaining a level.

Battlefield Benediction
6th-Level Warlord (Academy of Crusaders) Feature
Your faith fuels the fight, blessing your allies with divine resilience. Whenever you use Inspiring Word or Rallying Cry, the target gains the effects of the
Shield of Faith spell for 1 minute, or until you lose concentration as though concentrating on a spell.
Additionally, you can use an action to invoke divine protection. Choose a number of creatures equal to your Leadership modifier (minimum of 1) within 30 feet. They gain temporary hit points equal to your Warlord level + your Leadership modifier and advantage on saving throws against being
Frightened or
Charmed for 1 minute.
Once you use this feature, you must complete a short or long rest before using it again.
Holy Zeal
14th-Level Warlord (Academy of Crusaders) Feature
You lead your forces with fervent determination, ensuring that the faithful never falter. You gain the following benefits:
Divine Strike: When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack for the first time each turn, you deal extra radiant damage equal to your Exploit Die.
Rally the Devout: When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can use your reaction to allow it to make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 10 or half the damage taken). On a success, it drops to 1 hit point instead of falling unconscious and gains temporary hit points equal to your Leadership modifier. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Warlord Power Reservoir, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Avatar of the Crusade
18th-Level Warlord (Academy of Crusaders) Feature
Your faith has transformed you into a beacon of divine power on the battlefield. You gain the following benefits:
Aura of the Crusade: You and creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you have advantage on all saving throws against spells and magical effects.
Unyielding March: When you use Inspiring Word or Rallying Cry, affected creatures can immediately shift up to half their speed.
Smite the Unworthy: When you score a critical hit against a creature with an opposed alignment, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Exploit save DC, being Frightened of you for 1 minute on a failure, or until the end of your next turn on a failure. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
