Little Warrior shield tokens

While the World Tree allowed travel between worlds or possibly even universes, navigating the space between worlds was achieved through use of the guild tokens. Guild members would use them to ‘port in’ to any nexus point, which were points in space defined by any skilled astromancer. With a single touch any guild member could reactivate their token to return to the World Tree. This allowed the Little Warrior Adventurers Guild to become an inspiring (or perhaps terrifying) and powerful force for order in the multiverse.

The difficult part of using guild tokens was their creation, inscribing them and binding them to the Tree’s life force. These metal disks were made of an unknown alloy derived from Kobold-ore and inscribed using a process known to only a handful of guild members. Some of the more dramatic rumors claimed that a single guild token took years to create and required the sacrifice of no fewer than 6 full-aged dragons. Thankfully they were all but impervious to damage and easily recovered from fallen guild members. Few new tokens ever needed to be commissioned.

The events of Guildfall shattered our shield tokens, and their loss was a terrible blow. Today, of course, we have a shieldsmith to create new ones. Miko's cousin, Jaspier Penrose...if he can still be called that. He's been commanded through the Dread Rail of Command to serve the guild through the construction of shield tokens for the rest of eternity. He's a difficult teacher though, so no one else has been able to learn the technique from him. He does assure us that no dragon sacrifices will be required.

The shield tokens have two abilities. The first ability allows the user to teleport from the World Tree, here in the Guild Hall, to anywhere in the multiverse. The second is a recall function, returning them from wherever they are to the World Tree. Both abilities can only be used once per day, so a Little Warrior using their token to escape danger does so knowing that whatever problem they went out there to fix is not dealt with, and it may be up to a full day before they can return. The tokens can only be carried and used by a Little Warrior who has taken the Oath. Anyone else's hands simply slide through the token as if it were mist.

A shield token was also known to have blocked part of the unmaking magic of Whisper shortly before Guildfall, but it is unknown if this was due to some ability of the tokens to stand against the forces unleashed, or due to some part of Whisper holding himself back...as the target was his friend and student, Breac Sunfist.
