Faerun Central Powers
When word reached the other kingdoms of the Sea of Fallen Stars that Thay had not only rapidly expanded its borders and was harvesting a strange and powerful new material, but was doing so to repel an invasion from another world, the fractured kingdoms realised they were hopelessly and hilariously unprepared. The northern kingdoms rallied around the kingdom of Cormyr and Queen Raedra Obarskyr, forming the Central Powers. Even the cold kingdom of Vaasa put aside its war of expansion into Damara and lent its aid to the might of the Purple Knights.
While Queen Raedra and Lady Amber Deathsbane of Neverwinter have met and are known to be fast friends, the tyranny of distance has put strain to that friendship. The Western Alliance is gathering its might, but the people of Damara in particular need solutions to the threat from Thay (or whatever might be behind it) today, not in some imagined utopian future. Raedra must balance this against agitators who want her to abandon the kingdoms to the north and throw her lot in with the Western Alliance, who are likely to prove more valuable and powerful allies.
Cormyr's Purple Knights are well supplied, but their War Wizards have a constant need for fresh inks and paper, which are in short supply. Faerun has little Sungwood, so staves and wands made of this are a rare luxury.
