The "scaring" was an event in the lush forest lands of Ordrona while the four factions of Dragonborn were warring endlessly. The Dragonborn race was in a large-scale conflict the color of their scales making them turn on one another. They could not accept they were lesser than any other color of Dragonborn. They were full of rage as their dragon blood was un tamed making the people aggressive and war hungry.
Thou the 4 chromatic factions all believed in the ancient god Aoon they could not accept each other differences and for a hundred years have painted the soil of the forest red. The land was separated by the 4 factions and the center was declared the red flood lands. This was because the battle was only allowed within this holy area to give each faction a chance to reproduce.
however, in these Red flood lands sat a canyon carved into the dense stone of a quarry in the middle of the forests. This canyon homed a city called Drummore where the Dwarven civilization was developing technology and arcanum for their own use outside of the rest of the world.
The Dragonborn had not noticed the dwarves hiding out in this canyon, to focus on their wars with one another. until one day the sky erupted with blue flames setting a blaze to the lands for miles. The fire burned for months scorching and running the lands of the red floods. The Dragonborn after this event suddenly lost their urge for war and took this burning as a sign from their god Aoon.
Each faction gathered together to write the first treaty between the dragonborn in centuries. the peace conference ran by a man named Rothka who would later become the king of ordrona. the treaty was a pact between the Dragonborn to live in peace with one another and to finally stop the war.
the Dragonborn needed somewhere to go and stumbled across the city of Drumore. it was scorched by the fire and in the streets stood the ashy corpses of hundreds of dwarves. not all had perished and with an empty city, they let the Dragonborn stay.
it's still unknown entirely what happened on this day and why the sky burned with blue flames. there are a few theories some based on science and others declaring it a divine purging.
