Dwarf

Dwarves are a species created by Elves for hard labor. Dwarves were originally used as miners of veingold, managed by the Elves but ultimately working to mine a substance exclusively for the Dragons. However, after the Torn Wars and the enslavement of humanity, dwarves were given a different purpose, that of prison guard. Between the time of the Torn Wars and the Forsaking, Dwarves served almost exclusively as guards whose sole purpose was to keep humanity inside the walls of Karthan and to ensure that humans of Karthan mined enough veingold to appease Niviras, the Dragon Sovereign.    Whereas the human class structure resembles a pyramid, the Dwarven class structure is more of a horizontal line. There is no leader of the Dwarves other than their Elven creators. The Elves use their magic Talent to turn stone into life, summoning golems from the ground and implanting in their heads a Nari'ryki (Mind Stone), mined from the depths of the Yang'rana. It is the Nari'ryki that make the Dwarves different from other golems. Golems are much like dolls, unable to think or do of their own accord. Dwarves, however, develop their own personalities and desires and likes and dislikes. The process is slow, though, and the Dwarves are unable to procreate, eat or drink as they have no organs, sexual or otherwise. Dwarves are very hard to kill, but the creation process is also arduous.   Dwarves receive their individual assignments or orders through the Nari'ryki from their Elven creators at the time of their birth. They are able and allowed to do anything that does not conflict with their original orders. Occasionally a Dwarf will receive new instruction through the Nari'ryki. However, what one Dwarf hears is heard by him or her alone. In this way no other Dwarf is able to know what the orders of any other Dwarf are without being told by said Dwarf. There is no way to prove the truth of their statements either, because the Dwarves are only allowed to initiate contact with the Elves via the Nari'ryki in the event that the humans are rioting or trying to escape Karthan or something similar, upon penalty of death.
