General Summary
Reeling from Marcella’s unsettling proposal, Alexis retreats with Blair to his rooms, desperate to talk through their next steps. Blair, ever the steady hand, takes the opportunity to open up, drawing parallels between Alexis' predicament and their own past. Blair urges Alexis to consider what he truly wants, not what’s expected of him. The words land heavily, and for once, Alexis seems to take them to heart. With newfound resolve, he admits he doesn’t want the wedding at all—and decides he will put himself first.
Before the group can settle on a plan, Alexis is whisked away for more noble obligations, leaving Collective Action to reflect on the day’s chaos. Meepo, ever curious, sneaks off to explore further but is caught by the stern head housemaid. She wastes no time putting the Kobold to work as a servant, ensuring he causes no more mischief.
Elsewhere, half of the party witnesses an eerie sight—a door handle rattling violently on its own. Inside, they find a room untouched by time, empty except for a portrait of Eryndor Dawnmire, a disgraced paladin of the family. The room feels heavy with old secrets, but nothing else stirs.
Meanwhile, Barnabus finds Marcella Blackthorne reading in the gardens and seizes the chance to introduce himself. Marcella remains coldly polite, offering curt responses about her family’s legacy but revealing little else. Her walls are firmly up.
At dinner, the adventurers are once again seated apart from the other nobles. To their surprise—and some amusement—Meepo serves them food and wine, now fully committed to his role as household staff. The evening is joined by newly arrived nobles from Colere, adding to the growing tension in the dining hall. As before, Marcella departs early, trailed by her elusive attendant, whose presence remains unsettlingly discreet.
Later that evening, Alexis reconnects with Collective Action, confirming his decision to follow Blair’s advice. Tomorrow night, at the grand engagement party, he plans to call off the entire charade in front of everyone.
As night deepens, the group turn their attention to the mystery of Eryndor Dawnmire. They make their way to the family mausoleum, disturbing the resting dead in search of answers. Though progress is slow, they eventually uncover the tomb of Eryndor's brother. Eryndor’s own remains are conspicuously absent—no one knows what became of him after he fled the estate, broken by whatever horrors he brought back from the rebellion in the East. Whispers suggest he fell in love, though with whom—or what—remains a mystery.
With more guests set to arrive from all over the realm for tomorrow’s party, tensions build, and the stage is set for a night the Dawnmires—and the adventurers—won’t soon forget.
