General Summary
Collective Action presses on through the elemental level of Vigil's Keep, stepping into the ice laboratory, where they are immediately set upon by Snow Golems and Ice Mephits. With fire Magic proving devastatingly effective, the battle is swift, and the icy creatures crumble, leaving behind the third scepter needed for unlocking the Chromatic Demon’s cage.
The adventurers then turn their attention to the fire laboratory, with Celine leading the charge. Her entrance triggers the emergence of a Fire Elemental from the lava pit, but the party cleverly lures it into the ice laboratory, where the frigid environment freezes the creature solid, trapping its soul within an ice crystal.
As Meepo steps into the fire lab, a second elemental manifests—only for Groban to teleport it directly into the ice lab, where it meets the same fate as the first. With both elementals dealt with, the once invulnerable Fire Giant lingering within the fire lab finally becomes vulnerable to attack.
The ensuing battle is fierce, with Collective Action suffering a few close calls, but they ultimately bring down the giant, claiming the fourth and final scepter needed for the Chromatic Demon’s cage.
Recognizing the need for rest before their next battle, the adventurers decide to camp in the fire library. However, the Chromatic Demon has other plans, unleashing ear-splitting screeches throughout the night to prevent them from sleeping.
During this time, Roan receives a magical Sending from Kristoff of The Fist of Justice. Kristoff relays that Alexis has decided on a favor he wants from Collective Action—one of their members must accompany him to his family manor as a guest. Details remain sparse, but the party is asked to return to Takari Peak within five days to undertake this mission.
After a short break, the party gathers around the demon’s cage, attempting to negotiate. It becomes clear, however, that the fiend has no intention of cooperating and will attack them the moment it is freed. Prepared for battle, the adventurers insert the four scepters, causing the cage to dissolve—and the fight begins.
The demon’s form constantly shifts, embodying the four elements, but despite its monstrous nature, the battle proves surprisingly one-sided. Blair, in particular, unleashes a relentless assault, leaving the fiend half-dead before it can mount any serious resistance.
With a final, decisive blow, the Chromatic Demon falls, leaving behind a magical portal stone, which activates the gateway leading deeper into Vigil’s Keep.
