Gathering / ConferenceFollowing the will reading, everybody gathered that evening for a lavish feast prepared by Lucas and Rho. There were bitter feelings all around, Iona moaning about how cruel the Marquis was to anybody who would listen. Gaultier tried to convince Spark of Life to join the School of Life, but she seemed more interested in Mircea. Geo traded barbs with Gaultier while Theo made moves on Ysmyrelda. Theo ended up being the one to make the biggest scene before heading upstairs with his wife. There was a specific order to who left the dinner table, who left first?

Scientific achievementAura of Passion examined Lucina's body further, discovering the handprint and identifying the poisoned food. Gaultier made a note of the people who had left dinner early before heading downstairs for an interrogation: Madame Anastasia, Lucas, Aura of Passion, and Christa Vechian. Geo stayed in the room for a while with Aura of Passion and Thierry, but who else was in the room? For those who weren't in the room, where did they go?

Life, CrimeBefore heading towards the living room for the interrogations, Gaultier investigated the basements to look for Madame Anastasia and Christa. He found the former cowering in a wine cellar, visibly frightened of something. Gaultier went about destroying some of the bottles and kegs until Lucas and Rho overhead him in the nearby kitchen. Gaultier broke one more keg before heading upstairs. He didn't find any sign of Christa.

Life, Trauma/ LossWhile the others gathered in the living room, Madame Anastasia rushed upstairs from the basement saying that Gaultier had gone crazy in the wine cellar. Gaultier and Lucas entered not long after while Rho started serving scones.

The Usual Suspects
Gathering / ConferenceWith almost everybody reassembled in the living room (Christa was still missing, Daniel was passed out from sherry in the dining room, Theo and Mircea were missing), a tipsy Gaultier began questioning those who had left dinner early that night. Madame Anastasia, a rover from the Free State of Thorvald, appeared to scared and shocked to be a credible suspect. She expressed surprise when Gaultier first told her about the murder in the wine cellar, and she seemed more scared of the monk than the killings going on. Aura of Passion explained how she was checking on the other guests and leaving some food for each of them when she came across Lucina's body. She appeared to be the most genuine and compassionate person in the room, and to Gaultier she wasn't a prime suspect. Lucas was almost as shocked as Anastasia when questioned about the murder, especially since he hadn't heard about Lucina's death (nor had Thierry). Gaultier could tell that he was honest about his shock, making quick work of his list of suspects. That just left one more person to interrogate: Christa Vechian.

ExpeditionThe manor felt unsafe now for anybody moving around alone, so Jupiter and Ysmyrelda agreed to go upstairs to look for Christa. They got sidetracked and came across the Marquis' old study, where Ysmyrelda found a book chronicling the misdeeds of everybody gathered at the manor tonight. The first passage she read was about how the Vechians had covered up Theo's history of sexual assault. The two of them tried to leave after gathering this new info, but a secret compartment and the haunting feeling of being watched led to a couple of distractions.

Life, CareerGaultier asked Geo about about how the Marquis' business holdings were divvied up in the will. Geo explained how Daniel now almost had a controlling interest in the company, which would force Geo to play nice with Jupiter if he wanted to stay in charge. Geo saw Daniel as more of a people person, whose connections were used to expand the family business beyond the borders of Despero.

Life, SupernaturalAura of Passion sneaked along the Vechian manor's third-floor balconies to rescue Jupiter and Ysmyrelda from the locked study. Meanwhile Gaultier noticed a shadowy figure jump from one of the balconies to the ground below.

Gaultier was disgusted to see the Marquis' children laugh at the news; apparently their mother Sophie had killed herself by hanging as well. This was the first indication that the murders may be connected to the wording of the bequeathments in the will. By the way, what happened to Daniel's snoring?

Civil actionGaultier made a close investigation of Daniel Vidaru's body, noticing what looked like a slap mark on the back of the dragonborn's neck. Spark of Life could tell that the body had been out in the water for several hours, but Gaultier's movements around the body made any kind of thorough investigation all but impossible. The tabaxi did discover 78GP in Daniel's pockets.

Gathering / ConferenceThe group started to get suspicious of Gaultier as the monk started blaming Geo for Daniel's death, especially after a slap mark was found on the dragonborn. A compromise was reached where Gaultier, Geo, Spark of Life, and Aura of Passion would lock themselves in the study for another couple of hours to prove each other's innocence.

Discovery, ScientificTime passed by in the study with Gaultier and Geo discussing the late Marquis' interest in alchemy. He had built the manor on a series of ley lines, perhaps explaining some of the strange events witnessed on the island. As a group they decided to go upstairs to investigate the Marquis' study for further information.

Life, DeathGeo's son was found flattened by a bookcase in the same room where Lucina had died the night before. Gaultier consoled Geo with the fact that he was no longer being considered as a prime suspect, but this did nothing to calm the nobleman down.

Metaphysical / Paranormal eventRho showed off her doll collection to Jupiter and Ysmyrelda, a disturbing display that included one doll seeming made out of human flesh. Along the way the two adventurers took some time to read more salacious passages from the Marquis' burn book regarding Gaultier and Jupiter. Eventually they convinced Rho to remove the bracelet she was wearing, hoping to protect her from whatever force was at play on the island.
