KKO Session 7: Thunderous Escape

General Summary

11/2/875

• Balasar and Nyana run to safe house, find Tevlin and Hokan together
• They fill them in on all the details, sleepless night worrying about rest of party
• Meanwhile Guppy and Bucephalus wake up chained inside a dark dungeon
• Empress Chomei, leader of Kiri tribe, looming over them
• She asks them where the Silk Page is
• Bucephalus has no clue
• Guppy tries talking about Seevo, is gagged
• Chomei, sensing their ignorance, taunts them about tomorrow’s execution
• For killing heads of Paper Dragons she’s now in control of operation
• The next morning a herald shouts down streets about public execution at noon by decapitation, hosted in Chrysanthemum Square in front of palace
• Nyana et al start hatching plan
• Balasar convinces executioner to let him take over gig
• Tevlin sets up getaway drive, Hokan tries to get party’s stolen items
• The square is all set up for a big festival/execution
• People still blame them for death of Princess Mitsune
• Nyana gets seat at front, weapons drawn
• Guppy and Bucephalus are dragged from the dungeon
• Resigned to their fate, Bucephalus can’t make peace with Rexfur or Ageless One
• Empress Chomei gives speech about delivering justice, settling scores
• Just as Balasar pretends to land blow, Nyana attacks Chomei
• Her ice dagger pierces Empress’ shoulder, exploding and causing serious damage
• For good measure, she casts thunder wave, murdering half the crowd
• But hey, there’s more room for escape
• Balasar unties Guppy and Bucephalus, they all run towards Tevlin’s wagon
• Bucephalus falls behind, Guppy picks him up
• Guard is giving Tevlin hard time, Balasar intimidates him
• And with that, party bolts out of Younashi
• Hokan takes off chef’s disguise, hands Guppy and Bucephalus their supplies
• Who knew he was a cook in a past life?

• Party takes break on the road to Koulan Forests
• It’s where Tevlin and Nyana grew up, very verdant and politically neutral
• Might find someone who knows about Silk Page
• Party ponders why Chomei would be so involved with Paper Dragons
• Maybe she had an interest in maintaining the status quo?
• They still don’t know who ordered the wedding assassination
• Nyana’s a little amazed by the fact that rest of party was at the wedding
• That night while on watch Nyana hears rustling in woods, wakes up party
• A terrible abomination with multiple heads and legs and arms appears
• Bucephalus recognizes abomination’s face as Watanabe’s!
• Boss Fight: Watanabe Abomination
• Balasar keeps missing, but gets one good lick in
• Bucephalus’ crossbow is pretty reliable
• We all learned a lesson about bardic inspiration
• Balasar delivers killing blow, splits abomination in half
• After battle party investigates corpse once it’s through leaking acid
• There are chains on its wrists and ankles with Paper Dragon symbols on them!
• And the body’s made of paper like the samurai in Younashi
• So many questions, who can answer them?
