Yao Zir

Yao Zir is a city in the Remaldus Hills of Bhren. The city is known for its beautiful views, as it also sits at the edge of Z'kevver Forest, as well as its historic importance, as it was the site of an important battle in the Dest-Amitar War. It is governed by Duke Dendrick Greatglaive.

History

Founded in EL 791, Yao Zir was still a very small town surrounding a fort when in 798 a squadron of Amitar laid siege to it as General Helnaividaat Ledrix was there on secret business meeting with the town's reeve. The siege lasted for nine days and ended in a surprise victory with the help of a draconic Yao Ziri sorcerer, a dwarf. In the battle, one of the Amitars' chiefest fighters was defeated, a loss which contributed tremendously to the eventual Destian victory the following year.
In the wake of this victory, Yao Zir became a center of nationwide attention, and grew to be the largest city in Dest.

Architecture

Yao Zir's significant dwarven population lives mostly in the caverns beneath the city, with clear views of the series of waterfalls which branch from Qifzadaar River.
