Shard

"All my truths for the power to lie."
Ancient Shardic prayer

Shard is the goddess of lies and manipulation. She saw everything, even social interactions, as strategic challenges. She learned very quickly how to manipulate others to get what she wanted from them. She took the desires and plans of her parents and perfected them, destroying and building up crime syndicates under her mother’s name, with her mother never being the wiser, and spreading all sorts of stories about her father. She was a master of rumors and gossip even among the Meydra, and it is said that she toppled empires with a single carefully worded sentence whispered in the right ear. She drove a significant wedge between Wulozha and Imennis, resulting in the former never being able to trust the latter until after their deaths. At times she advised other Meydra on how to manipulate others for their own purposes, but in return always demanded a future favor, some of which, it is said, to this day, she has not collected. She developed the spells Charm Person, Command, and Suggestion, and used similar magic so effectively that one minute of conversation with a mortal could win over her worst enemy—though her fellow Meydra were not so easily swayed. It is said that the day she speaks the truth without ulterior motive is the day the world will come to an end. She is portrayed as a beautiful woman with pale skin, wearing a black and red cape and hood with many bracelets on her wrists and ankles.   "Shard" is not this goddess's real name, but rather a nickname she allegedly gave herself after wiping her real name from the memories of all Meydra who had known it, with the help of Madjei.

Relationships

Shard's parents were Tirinasi and Djudla-Mei. Her sister was Lunagi, who was either her greatest enemy or ally. Shard seduced a great many men and is assumed to have many descendants even now.

Followers

Little is known about Shard's clerics; for a long time it was assumed she had none, until, late in the Era of Cloud, it came out that several had been disguising themselves among the ranks of clerics of other orders, for unknown purposes.
