The Divine Struggle

The Divine Struggle was a global war that lasted from 1339 D.E to 1351 D.E. It involved the vast majority of the Eirath's countries—including all the major Kingdoms forming two opposing military alliances: the followers of the True Gods and the followers of the Apostate Gods. The known world would end up being in a state of total war, directly involving more than 25 million souls from more than 20 Kingdoms and Nations, the major participants threw their entire economic, technological and magical capabilities behind the war effort, effectively eliminating the distinction between civilian and military resources.

The Divine Struggle is generally considered to have begun on July 6th 1339 D.E, with the invasion of Caibrox by Osturg and subsequent declarations of war on Osturg by Caibrox and Bruitan. Osturg, whose leader Jannik Seidl was a follower of the Apostate God Devzotz sought to oust the other Gods. From late 1339 D.E. to early 1342 D.E., in a series of campaigns and treaties, Osturg conquered or controlled much of continental Uheth.

On 22 November 1348 D.E., Osturg led their forces into an invasion of the nation of Ilos and the city of Exalos beginning the largest and longest protected land conflict in the history of the world, and effectively trapping their forces into a war of attrition. This tactical mistake was what many scholars believe was the turning point in the conflict.

Facing a near total decimation of their army, in April of 1349 D.E, Osturg began a large scale and systematic retreat to their boarders. Simultaneously, allied nations lead by Caibrox counter-attacked and invaded Osturg, culminating in the capture of Stühlohn by Bruitan troops, the capture of Jannik Seidl and the unconditional surrender of Osturg and their allies on August 24th, 1351 D.E.
