Mydhamagna

The Mydhamagna are a semi-humanoid, semi-aquatic species capable of surviving in both fresh and salt water. Their intelligence ranges from high to very high, and they are omnivores. They mainly eat fish, crustaceans, plant matter, and fungi, and have an average lifespan of approximately 75-125 years. They stand a little taller than their progenitors, usually measuring between 5-6 feet tall. They are also more lithe so they may glide through the sea more effectively.

As the Mydhamagna evolved to reach out into the ocean, their dependence on land, and thereby on the very trees that granted them magic, declined. Now, only a fraction of the Mydhamagna have the ability to utilise the mental power that was once second nature to them. The Mydhamagna peoples still follow the traditional mysticism of the Yadamanya , regardless of whether they live inland, or on the mud-flats, or on the beaches, or in the reef. The Mydhamagna living inland alongside their ancestors are content to follow the traditional system of government, while those who live on the mud-flats, or on the beaches, or in the reefs have adopted a democratic republic format to ensure relative fairness when it comes to sociopolitical issues. The Mydhamagna have selected a smaller pantheon of gods from the Yadamanya peoples’ cast of higher entities to worship, and they have devoted entire days and festivals for each one so that each deity receives equal worship. In the reef and coastal areas in particular, some new gods have begun to be exalted relatively recently.

The Mydhamagna mine ore and rock from river and lakebeds as well as from the ocean floor to garner materials for stonemasonry and metalworking. They have a written and oral language they call Mydhamagnim. It is closely related to Yadamanam , and there are three different dialects: Aankher (Inland), Sinyana (Shore), and Gravlah (Reef). They have good relationships with their neighbours the Yadamanya and the Chikaran , but are mistrusting of outsiders and have extensive border control set up on the outskirts of their territories.
